zxr 250 info

Hi, my name is Sammy and I'm from Belgium.
I know your country from Aaron Slight (Made a replica of his RC45) and Chris vermeulen...But those apparently are not the only awesome things.

I'm 18yeas old, and now looking for a motorcycle. In belgium the law says I can drive a 25kWbike 'til I'm 21. There are not much cool small motorcycles.

I was watching the internet, and I found out about zxr250/cbr250....but you don't find them over here. even if you look on wikipedia it says this:
Kawasaki Ninja ZXR-250 / ZX-2R (for certain asian region only)

anyway, I found a ZXR 250 for sale, which I am willing to buy, but I can't find anything...
I'm lookin for some information about the bike, the engine,...wiring diagrams, schematical vieuws,....
or even differences between the zxr 400, what's the difference between zxr250 A or C? how to see?...

So I thought, maybe you guys could help me further?

Good luck for getting your bike. I don't have the info that you're after but someone will probably step up with some info soon.
Sounds a bit hard going by your age to limit the power allowed. Here we go through 3 steps to pass based on ability (approx 18mths, start at 15/16yrs old min) before getting a full licence where you can ride any bike you like.

Absolutely, many riders on this site have owned the ZXR250, the difference between the A and the C is largely cosmetic.

the coolest thing about the internet is that even in a different timezone I can get some answers

I don't know If you're intereseted, of maybe I should open a new thread, but I 'll shortly tell how it works in belgium.
When you become 16years old, you can go get a license to ride a 50cc bike. But the speed is limited to 45km/h. I have a fex aprilia bikes, but they obviously can ride faster then 45km/h. So i didn't ride to fast, but the police stopt me anyway and my bike could reach the speed of 100km/h so I lost him a month, and there will follow a giant fine.
When you are 18years old you can go for a car drivers license, or a motorcycle with max 25kw (30HP). it means there are lots of bikes that are limited within the CDI unit. Like the ZXR I wanna buy.
when you turn 21 that license automaticly changes to a bigger icense so you can ride any bike you want.

the law isn't realy great i think, but In france there are no motorcycle's with morre then 100HP

so you ride faster with a 750 then a 1000 because of the weight...

I don't know If anyone is interested in this, although I find this already a great forum! In Belgium, Netherlands there's a lot of people just looking at the pictures

I had a doubt, because the site says a site for all new zeeland motorcylcists..
but I had a great welcoming

I thought the zxr/cbr put out about 40 - 45 hp I'm pretty sure the c model has less hp then the A due to restrictions that were put in place in japan around the 1992 mark but I believe they have given it more torque at lower revs to compensate the less hp. If you search teh web you can find downloads of the zxr manual, I did. Also on this site do a search for manuals and there are pages and pages of manual sites. Have a look at trademe.co.nz which is an online auction site in NZ and usually have loads of zxr/cbr bikes usually around the $5000 nz dollar mark

thanks, Yeah I found it already that they have 45HP.
but when I look after some manuals, my searchrobot google, is looking around for pages from europe...but there he doesn't find anything interesting.

didn't know there was a manual section on this forum, I check it out right away!

Wouldn't the Aprilia RS125 be a cheaper option for you?

The ZXR and CBR250 are getting expensive to fix and buy. Great sounding bikes though. The CBR250rr

would be my pick, as the cam gears are more reliable than the cam chain system of the ZXR.

yeah I know, i already read that, but a RS125 is a 2stroke bike, and I 'd rather have a 4stroke. I absolutely am In love with the model of the bikes like zxr, cbr... and normally you can't find any in belgium. But now there's a zxr 250 for sale. Of course, It's even harder to find parts.. and that's what my dad keeps telling. But it's for sale for 1500€ thats 1897.5$ (american).

so I realy love that bike. My brother is 16years old, and has bought a cagiva mito 125, he has to wait 2years before he can ride it.
I'm a great honda fan! I made a replica from my aprilia of the Honda RC45
check out www.sampers.be (still under construction...) So I would like the cbr even more, but can't find it around here. So the ZXR will have to do.

havent found the manuals on this forum already...maybe can give me a direction?

It was a japanese domestic model, so the manuals are in japanese. Post a seperate thread asking for the ZXR250 manual, someone may have one.

I think the ZXR only puts out about 32hp at the wheel, so you'll probably get away with it. The ZXR is very reliable with regular oil changes, it's just the cam chain tensioner etc that needs occasional attention.

ZXR/CBR are supposed to be 45hp at crank, or 40ish at the wheel. I've seen dyno readings between 33hp and 38hp depending on state of tune (eg looked after, or crap)

The difference between the ZXR250A and ZXR250C is mainly cosmetic though i have been told the engines are the same dimensions/size but the C model has a different length stroke or something?

The other differences are small and most parts are interchangeable that arent to do with the fairings.

As said, they are old bikes and are hard to find in good condition, and parts are becoming increasingly hard to find, and as with the price of the bikes they are going up because of this.

Might pay to look for a NSR/CBR/RS 125cc two stroker to get you through your learning days.

Or just move to New Zealand and dont worry about the strict laws in Belgium. Dont worry though mate, a friend of mine in Norway has it worse!

but what are the differences between the ZXR250 and the ZXR400?
can you change parts between those bikes? can you even put a 400cc engine on your 250?
