    Bit nervous....

....I've booked my 6R test for 6th Sept...at lunchtime! Never ridden around Welly during the day and knowing that I'll be being followed by someone who's just waiting for me to stuff up isn't helping much! LOL

Oh well, will just have to get out into the Wellington daytime traffic before then I guess (such a hassle tho - get out of work clothes, into bike clothes, walk all the way down to bike, fight way into traffic.....then reverse the process when you're all done - out of a 1 hour lunch, I'll probably only get 10 mins on the bike!!!)

It may be a little ride to get there but see if you can re-book it for Porirua. A little less traffic and a lot less stress.

I don't really have any leave left to take tho so I'm trying to squeeze it in during my lunch (will be a long lunch and a late finish that day!).

I'll see how I go next week with lunchtime rides. if I'm not having much joy, I might just have to bite the bullet and grovel to my manager!

    Thanks for the advice

    yeah, i agree with colapop.
the test is easy, you will wonder what you were worried about after you've passed.
Welly traffic will be the hardest part.

Best of luck - you shouldn't need it - just be sensible, indicate and keep to the speed limits. If you passed a driving test in the UK this will be a piece of piss. there's actually a thread on here with restricted licence tips.

I've heard that although the tests appear to be as rigorous as the UK the examiners here are not as stringent.

    you'll be fine.

i was fairly worried/scared/whatever before my test, kinda stupid really - I took an hour off work and went for a ride before my test to calm myself down.

Did my test on Monday. They seem to try and take you somewhere there is not much traffic e.g. Mt Vic, Kilbirnie. I was really worried before the test but it turned out to be a piece of cake. Just remember to indicate and put both feet down when you stop.

Yeah I did all my tests in Porirua for the exact same reason. Was a heap quieter, not so many hills and shit to deal with and the dude who takes you out there is a wicked good guy!! He sat and had a ciggie before and after with me, was really cool, like going for a little ride with a mate or something.

i think its just to show you actually have stopped. but for me, im more likely to come to a complete stop with one foot [and use the other for extended stops] and just drop my feet for slowing/keeping balance till the light changes.

Piece of weez, that reminds me, make you go, before you go.....
Did my full earlier this year, got back on a GN to do it (cos i had been on a 600 for about 8 months) and was a bit wobbly to start with but after 1/2 hr the instructor said '' thats it, back to the start point''...thought i had failed but no it was all good....Good luck...
