    Fast diesel

    With maximum power of 560kW, they produce an incredible 112kW per litre - a higher figure than most petrol-powered supercar engines. Peak torque is 1500rpm.

    The JCB Dieselmax rocketed down the Bonneville Salt Flats at an average of 563.4km/h on August 23. It was the third speed record broken by the vehicle during three days of runs at Bonneville.
