rhetorical bullshit. this is basically how hitler rose to power and a bunch of dickheads all jumped in line for a uniform. mindless pawns fuelling someone's overinflated ego in the misguided belief they were chasing some attainable ideal, what a joke. so who's next to step up for an armband?
    ..it's another red light nightmare..

So you would expect to live in the Lebanon and have them live by your rules? Or theirs?

How would they treat you if you chose to live by western rules in their country?

I think your getting things a bit mixed up mate. Muslims are most welcome in NZ, well in my view anyway, however if a faction of these folk wish the incumbent populace surrender their values for supplanted ones they can get royally fucked. It also pisses me off that although NZ is a secular nation some traders are banned from trading on religious holidays.

Wangi? I run an Upmarket Italian Restaurant there! For those who can't speak aussie, that's pronounced Wan-gee as in wand. It's Aborigine for "water".

Anyway, the markets are now surrounded by an industrial estate. House prices went silly for a while, but are more realistic now. Youi can pick up a 4 bedroom home with a 4 acre block in Mirrabooka for $289,000 AUD.

Oh yeah, back on topic, what's the name of that Sydney suburb that's been taken over by the Egyptians?

as the old saying goes, when in Rome blah blah blah

I am an immigrant, been here two years now, originally from Joburg in SA, but when we moved here we made a consious decision to become a part of the Kiwi lifestyle and society and we have tried our damdest not to try and re-create a 'little South Africa'. This isn't our country yet, but in time we will start to refer to it as ours and we will live by it rules and become a part of society. It's what you do when you move to another country.

Do you remember the battles between the "PORRAS" and the "LEBS" in Joburg in the 70s and 80s?

750Y is correct though, the Nazi party was fuelled, in part, by a strong sense of nationalism. There's healthy nationalism, then there's taking it too far. Remember "One Nation" (Pauline Hanson and David Oldfield) - they're 'Nationalists' and 'Socialists' (ooh that has nasty connotations, doesn't it?). Now you don't want that kind of New Zealand, do you?

Nah! Everything's changed now. Even the pub's been revamped to be really upmarket. The resaurant is in Watkins road, oppposite the RSL where the old Indian takaway used to be. Customers are mostly from Sydney, and have holiday homes in Wangi.

Don't see many Arabs up this way though. it's all SDA country, although the JW's are making a bit of territory. Kinda sounds like gang turf doesn't it?

Those Aussie politicians really don't give a toss about being PC do they? In some ways I support what they are saying. I don't like what is happening to the Kiwi Culture. That essence of being a Kiwi, the can do/she'll be right attitude, the no worries mate frame of mind, that willingness to go out on a limb for ya friends and family is slowly being eroded and replaced with snivellers, whingers and moaners who are too lazy to get off their butts and make a difference.
If you emmigrate to another country then its only fair that you accept their laws and embrace their culture. That doesn't mean giving up your own cultural identity... as Outlawtorn said... simply a matter of 'when in Rome blah blah blah'

When I first moved there they were still removing the asbestos from the old power station and the pub was as wild and green tiles and hose it out as a pub could get.
Fights regularly on a Friday night and inked up mofos with wild Harley choppers coming and going out front. I loved it my Tbird was out front often too. Still mates with them.
To hear it's gone upmarket....sigh! If someone tells me Ken Webber has stopped going there I believe it's gone upmarket.

Nah, I only started going into Joburg city proper in the early nineties, we then had running battles with the skinheads, it was us (metalheads and punks) VS the skins, very brutal stuff, all the to an end when a 16year skin got killed outside a nightclub called Alcatraz, after that everybody kind of sat up and took notice of how the whole thing was.
