    WANTED ZXR250 - Cheap

Hey Everyone, I am looking to possibly buy a ZXR250 to do up. I went to have a look at on down country only to find out that the condition was not what the owner told me! What a waste of time...

Anyway, I don't want to spend alot and am willing to look at most options. I would prefer something with a cracked frame but with fairings that are in great condition or can be easily sourced (is this possible? ) and with a nice running engine.

Wow I don't ask for much do I!

Anyway, let me know what you have that might be suitable, and if you have any advice that would be great.

I would also prefer local (AKL) but something out of town could be arranged.

    Cheers

Yeah I saw this one on Trademe...but no it wasn't the one I looked at. However the bike being in pieces and with no keys is a bit of a worry to be sure! Who knows what is wrong with it. I will keep it in mind but I also suspect it will go for more than I am willing to spend.

We shall see. Cheers for the info

If anyone has been to see this bike or has an info on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

dude you are asking for a pretty tall order.
Cracked frame will mean impact damage. Which usually meand stuffed cosmetics.
As long as you can get proof of ownership and there isnt a big monkey on its back keys are a (relatively) easy problem to sort.
    OOOPs sorry--monkey= money oweing

Yeah it was in Wanganui...we were told that apart from the cracked fairing on one side, bent rim and cracked frame it was "like new." It wasn't really like new at all, all the fairings were scratched and cracked. The bike itself was ok...the forks seemed to be in pretty good condition actually, but it has been sitting outside for a couple of months so is a bit grubby and rough looking. He has taken the airbox and radiator etc off all of which is sitting in a box in the garage. We were hoping to be able to make a bit of money on it so if your looking to do that it might be hard but if your looking for a zxr to ride then it may not be a bad option depending on what you pay for it.

To be honest it probably isn't worth the $800 he was wanting (he said he would take $700 cash but no less) but could be worth it for around $500-$600. He can't start the engine as all the leads are off but he said he would guarantee it is was in excellent condition and I think he mentioned it had a recent service? (don't quote me on that). It is obviously not a '92 though as the photos will show you.

Part of the reason we didn't get it was we went down to pick up some fairings, apparantly in excellent condition (a full set incl tank) for $300 but the guy never showed up and refused to answer his cell-ph and his work wouldn't put us in touch with him. So all in all it was a bad day!

Anyway the reason I am looking for a zxr with a cracked frame is that I have access to one which is still registered (its a 1990 with 42km on rego) for a very reasonable price. However I think I might have to give this idea a miss and see how we go with the one in Wellington. If you end up buying the zxr and are interested in a 1990 frame which is still registered (it needs to have its liscence updated by August 10 or it gets deregestered) then let me know and I could pass it on.

    Cheers, hope this helps.
