    What is a 600 like?

I am seriously considering a 600 for next VMCC series.

At the moment I am racing street stock 150 and am doing realitivly well in it.(3rd over all, catching second! )

I have ridden a mates GSXR1100. but is was a very short ride. I loved it.

But i am wondering if racing a 600 with no big bike experience would be a bit stupid? Are they as brutal as everyone says they are?

And also, Any one wanna lend me one to try out before i buy one?

    cheers peoples,

    Glen

I'm guessing you don't really mean one like mine, then...?

the first thing i said to N4CR when i test rode the R6 was...
"dude you know me, and im seriously not gay, but i now know what it feels like to get fucked in the ass"

the first few times its pretty scary. But eventually you get used to the throttle, and the handling. They dont turn in so quick (generally) but are more stable when cornering.

I'll keep this short and say i love it. You cant go wrong with new technology mate, what you going after?

In reply to your question. Are they brutal? If you treat it like a 250/150 and thrash the throttle then yeh, if you are smooth and controlled like a racer should you'll be in extasy in no time. You might need to go to the gym though.

Personally I'd say that a decent modern 600 is just as easy to control as a smaller bike once you've got the knack of it which doesn't take too long.

Personally I feel I can negotiate corners no matter how tight faster now on the 600 than I could with my old ZXR250. I feel it tips in just as fast if not faster and more controlled than my old 250.

But as Gareth said, take it easy on the throttle when you start and treat the bike with respect - it's not a toy like a 150 or a 250.

You'll LOVE it. Fast and thrilling without the freakish power of the 1000's.

You're gonna ride one sooner or later - it may as well be sooner. For me I found most 600's good off the mark but top end was sluggish, but then I have a little more carcass to carry around than most. In saying that, I don't dislike them - they're just not my size. Young Sam Smith doesn't seem to have many issues...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Colemans lent me a gsxr 600 while my 1000 recieved attention and I loved it, fantastic handling bike that needs to be ridden hard to get the best and frankly not really much slower on the road.
The throttle down low is 'gentle and forgiving, and with great brakes and cornering it would be hard to go wrong.

My mistake, the two strokers didn't even cross my mind when I made that comment, I was only thinking along the lines of fours like CBRs or ZXRs - of course neither of these bikes are 'toys' but it was just the point I was trying to get across. Large bore bikes demand respect whereas these don't, certainly after sampling the power of a large bike.

And I have much respect for those who can ride a high strung 250 two stroke well. I tried to test ride a rs250 when I still had the ZXR and I was hopeless at it, I'm very much in the 4 stroke mentality.

a 600 is sorta like a 1000, but smaller, and sorta like a 400, but bigger.

other than that, i have no idea as i've never ridden one. just felt like making a positive contribution though.

maybe i'll go and test ride one today. i like the look of them r6's. and firefight has had like a hundred of 'em, so they must be good.

i did used to have an rs250, and it went pretty well, but i don't know if it would have hung with a 600 in the big flowing roads like 22 or coro

Buy a K1-K3 Gix 600...it will shit all over the Gix1100 you rode, so I can't see you being disappointed.
