    gutted...

I grew up watching Peter Brock and Bathurst ... and saved and saved and saved to afford one of the first SS Commodores just because it had his signature on the side.

RIP Peter ... you'll be missed.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Must've been before he left his wife for his good 'mate' and neighbours wife then eh?

I was in Melbourne when his 'mate' went to court and got charged for assault for giving Peter Perfect the bash.

    A great driver for sure.
Hell, my father worked for the General for 38 years and was treated to a demo by Brock himself in an SLR5000, my mother nearly wet herself when in the same car.

But a true 'Gentleman' doesn't leave a wife of god knows how many years because he's got the 'hots' for his mates wife.

    Bring on the 'red'.

    Very sad occasion alright.
He was so into road safety and the anti-drink driving as well.

    RIP Mr 05.

Yep, huge loss but remember it is a public road and he had just flown in from the UK and he wouldn't have been at his best. Plus it not as safe as a normal race track where it is controlled and you get to see the lay of the land.

John Howard? your kidding right? I brought a george bush doll the other day. It came free with a John howard and tony blair doll. The Bush doll is very lifelike and well made. I dont know about the other two as I havent been able to get them out of bush's ass yet.

Yep! That's the way to go - doing what you love. I've seen guys in their mid 50's windsurfing off Newcastle and doing summersaults - and putting the younger sailors to shame. Anyway, this whole attitude of "if you're over 40 you're a has-been" is garbage.

People "get old" because they let thmeselves go, and give up on life! Not those two.

I hope nothing happens to Bayliss.

    RIP Peter 'Perfect' Brock.

A true legend who will be sadly missed.

From a True Blue Ford Fan.

And is it just me.... but Irwin shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath or paragraph as Brocky?

And it's gonna make for an unforgetable 2006 Bathurst Race.

    RIP Brockie,

He once won the sports quote of the year in Aussie penthouse.
On helmet cam, just before he slammed into a crash barrier at 250k: "Oh fuck!"
(probably had an elbow on the sill at the time too).

Last week I would have agreed. The more i read about Irwin, his work in conservation and the esteem he was held in by those that knew him...I dunno.

    And remember the energy polarizer?

What is uncanny is the two direct hits that killed them - the only part of 05's car damaged is the drivers seat and door - same as if the ray had not got irwin directly in the heart.

Talk about when yer numbers up.

The man was entitled to a private life too...only proved he was human. He will always be a legend (in a good way). Just extra-sad timingwise.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    He's a Kiwi.
They can have the Horse and the Dessert too if they take him back.
Trade for Keith Urban? - he seems pretty cool.
