From past experience looking at the Hutt Christmas lights, the road is packed with gawping cars, vans and buses, and the footpaths crammed with (shock, horror) pedestrians. While one bike on its own can carve a swathe through small children, the aged and infirmed, a large group of bikes may unduly antagonise the milling hoardes.

Interesting idea, but can you imagine a bunch of bikers all going goo goo ga ga over pretty fairy lights?
    Gimme a ride/chinwag/ride any day.

Looks like its "the hill"s turn this week, so where has that got us then?

    Tin Hut, Featherston?
    White Swan, Greytown?
    Martinborough Hotel?
    Lake Ferry Hotel?
Summit Cafe, then back to the Rimutaka SB?

    The decision...is yours!
Will have to watch Toni tonight and see what the weather will be doing. (Weather map? What weather map?)

If it's a nice night I'd be up for a ride to Lake Ferry. The White Swan has a great bar menu and Oranjeboom on tap!

Duck pond at 6, as above.
I ride down from P'ram over PK Hill, takes about 30min home to pond. If I'm early I go and hang around the bikeshops in the Hutt first.
Not that keen to go much past the Tin Hut on a week night....seeing as I have a fair way to get home
Experience......something you get just after you needed it

Mind you, sitting atop the Paekak lookout, watching the sun set like thunder behind Blenheim is pretty special at this time of year.

No worries mate. I'd go to Lake ferry if I had time - but I can't see it this week. More, 'oh so you want it before xmas eh?' stuff...

Just sat there this morning ... awesome! No wind, chill in the air, fellow biker having a smoke and just total piece and quiet.

Doesnt look like the CWNR will have quite the same beneign weather.

Likewise. I live in Breaker Bay so I get to go all the way to town, through the town, and to the arse end of the Miramar peninsula before I can park up. Even from the tin hut it can be a bit of a slog.

I managed 30mins on the bike in the dead of night from around your place to Stokes Vegas. Can't imagine what it would be like in rush hour/daylight.

    I dunno. Some people!
After getting back to the Hutt after the last CWNR I attended I ended up blowing straight past home, through Petone, Eastbourne, back up SH2, over the Haywards, around the bays at Pauatahanui, a lap of Plimmerton, back over the Haywards, then a bit more of a Tiki Tour around the valley. If I was being observed I would have looked completely lost.
Hell, I think it was after midnight when I got home.... although the neighbours would probably have a better idea.
