oooh, just thought of another option.... but nah sad good memories attached to that one plus it was a bit short that night even with the extended bit

{Please, feel free not to elaborate on that.

Over the hill to kapiti would be good. Back along greys road.

The Cobb Bar in P'ram (back of the Cobb&Co) has offered us happy hour prices if we turn up there, so long as we give them notice. They have a new deck overlooking the car(bike)park

I think I can safely call it for you guys. It's 90% OK now, most of the pea metal has gone. Just normal sensible riding is required.

At the Pauatahanui end, the whole road was rough-chip sealed and that is now pretty clean, just be careful of between the wheel tracks. If there's any metal at all that's where it will be.

2 km further nort the surface changes from smooth to chip-seal and there has been some repairs done. These are on the corners and they show up as strips lighter than the rest of the road. They're right on the line through the middle of the corner but any alert5, vigilant, sensible riders will be aware of it before they're upon it. Everything past Battle Hill is fine

I guess I'll find out first hand on my way to the duck pond, but I reserve the right to not ride through pig shit twice in one day.
