    Newbie from Queensland

    HI All,
I am from Queensland but my fiancee is from Hamilton. I have more Kiwi friends than Aussies as most of NZ is here on the Gold Coast....hahaha

I used to own a bike shop in my younger days and raced a bike. Never lost the urge so I am finally back in a helmet.

I have an old Yamaha XV750 (old farts bike). I love it when I am not have to fix the starter. It had aftermarket pipes and is loud as.

    cheers

Greetings from another "oldie". We have friends on Bribie Island and spend some time between Brisbane and Noosa with them. Nice riding areas inland from there. How do guys cope with the heat and still wear good protective gear? Last time I was over there, I saw people on sports bikes wearing very light clothing which scared the crap out of me.

    Happy riding!

    Thanks Guys,

The protective wear issue is a biggie. I guess we just chance it in really hot weather. Some people say "awww I am not going to ride fast, just cruising so dont need leathers etc". I used to race a bike and had some HUGE crashes but the most hurt I ever got was a 20mph high side so there ya go.

Hi, I was enjoying your place on holiday until yesterday when I returned to work in Wellington. So it was 27 deg wearing shorts and T-shirt in Brisbane on Tuesday and 11 deg and fighting a 100km/hr southerly in Wellington yesterday. My wife then said "remind me why we live in Wellington?"
    Cheers

    hahahha....
I have MANY friend here who are Kiwi's including my fiancee who is from Hamilton. For 20 years I have been asking what NZ was like. Standard answer from all Kiwis "Really green, pisses rain all the time and cold".

So the first time I go to Hamilton I got sunburnt....hahahahahaha

Hi Patch111. Welcome to KB. Rhino (also on KB) and I get over the Gold Coast nearly every year as I have a brother, sister-in-law and nephew that live at Burleigh Waters. We love the Sunshine Coast. We haven't got the bike over there yet though!!! Enjoy your time in the nuthouse!!!

Hey there patch! Interesting nick - any back story to that? Welcome to KB and it sounds like you have a wealth of experience to share - so spread that love around heh! Enjoy the roads and keep it rubber side down - and yeah, I got slightly sunburnt on a ride out to Okoroire pub on a KB ride (that was after I was sitting down and took off the protective gears!)

    Ahh the Patch,

Well I was shot in the left eye when I was 12 (kids on a farm accident) After many years (over 20 years) of extreme pain, blindness, operations and a GREAT variety of pills to live on (they were good) I eventually lost the eye. The doctors screwed it up big time so I cut an eyepatch out of leather and went back to work.

Now the Silver lining. I am a musician/singer/songwriter/clown etc so the eyepatch made me even more reconisable and my money doubled so in a way it's a good thing (although I do get sick of fuckwit drunks asking where is my parrot) hahahahaha.

    SO there it is.....Patch.....

    cheers

Heh, and I betcha get to tease the kids with the line "It's all fun and games until someone puts an eye out!" Cheers for sharing! (I've met some other people who were less than reticient to explain their patch - maybe they did it doing something stupid!)

    I like it!

So did you own a bike shop in Queensland somewhere? Sorry if you stated that, was skim reading the posts!

I spent two years in the bike industry in Brisbane, so know a few people over 'your side'.
