Jeez when I was a young lad the only adventure sport we had was getting pissed and stoned and riding our bikes really fast. Some of my mates and their chicks were killed in hideous accidents..! Thankfully attitudes are changing and I don't bother with it now. I guess thats why I am older..

I personally think that drinking and driving is just fucking stupid, no matter how many you have. People who think and say they can handle their booze, get pissed and then climb onto their bikes or into their cars when pissed, deserved to be fucked and burned in my eyes. I've lost enough friends through drunk drivers, its fucking stupid and in this day and age there is no exscuse for that kind of stupidity!

    To sum it up...

so to sum it up, KBer's on average (those that responded to this thread anyway) are a responsible bunch. Which is good to see

I know a few KBers will have a drink or two when riding... which is thier own choice... and for the most part, within thier own limits. I think thats great!

    kb rocks!

That's the funny thing innit - there are over 5000 people members of this website but probably only a couple of hundred at most that post on it.

It's the same few every time.

Could be we're actually quite a wee small community after all.

That'll be why we're all on first name terms with each other already.

M'self, I blame the electric starter (makes a change from blaming Mr Biff. But he prolly is to blame anyway. Cos he's Welch y'know). Back in the day if you were sober enough to kickstart a big single (a taxing exercise even when sober) y'could reckon you were OK to ride. And if weren't like as not the kickstart lever broke your leg.
Nah....blame the Welch, it's all their fault!

All you old farts would probably be able remember the days(or maybe not) when it was quite the norm to drink & drive/ride. As a child I remember my dad driving us home from The Mount in his on golden holden stationwagon. He was so blind drunk we actually passed a car on the left...in the gravel...towing the dinghy on the trailer! It was perfectly normal to have a crate of beer in the back of the car. Now I reckon it's a true miracle that we all survive or childhood. One Guy Fawkes he took us down to the workshop to make a bomb to brighten up the evening. He filled a car tyre tube with acetylene & oxygen and put a fuse in it. My sister & I had the most important job of all, to hold it steady in the back of the Holden while the old man drove us home! When it was time to set the bomb off, we all got a safe distance away while he and the neighbor, Frank, went & lit the fuse As they ran away from the bomb it went off & blew the pair of them about 10 feet in the air! We all felt the shock wave & our ears were ringing for the rest of the night. We were in Western Heights & the blast was from Owhata(eastside)....& yes the Fire Brigade turned up. Oh the bad old days! Now we HAVE to break the cycle! NO MORE SILLY BUGGERS!

As an old Fart I do remember when the attitudes were different towards drink Drive/Ride. Thank god its over.. I remember getting lost on way home on a road that I rode everyday! Was just too pissed to navigate and when I stopped and asked my (rather still) girlfriend on the back if she knew where we were, she just blew bubbles in her vomit filled helmet and passed out again. She bloody near drowned that night aged 16..! Old farmer from up the road stopped his old Valiant to help. He was also as pissed as a handcart and offered us a ride home. He did a bit of a rant and rave about me having a young lass out so late and that I had got her drunk. No mention of the fact that I could hardly stand and had been riding my motorbike.
Now the crime is drink driving and young girls can get as pissed as they like.. Safer that way I guess..!

I think drink driving/riding in the old days was more accepted... of course... it was the norm... the govt. didn't have the research or knowledge of the damage such things cause... also... you must consider that if you go back... even 15 years, the population was less, the crime was less... life was different... so yeah...
