And youi're sure that's not enough to cause a sonic boom?

Looks like someone actually got the sucker on camera- should be on the late news.
There is major roadworks happening outside my work at the mo- lots of rumbling and shaking. The building shook more from this thing than it does from an earth moving truck or 14 tonne digger rumbling around right outside the window. T'was most impressive

Heard it pass over down here, missed seeing it though. The local radio had a truckie call saying he'd seen it touchdown just south of Hinds.

Yes I was very surprised that tv3 had it as their lead story

I saw some footage on the tv3 news though I thought that was some old footage, could be wrong. Pretty damn impressive in either case.

Also had some impressive footage of it arcing across the sky

Late news just gone updated the story & said a 10cm piece of material had been found south of Ashburton and was going to be analyzed tomorrow.

The footage shown on the news broadcasts was from Indian tourists filming scenary from their car down around Wanaka couple of years ago

You Might be a Redneck if:

You've been interviewed on the Radio three times to describe the sound of the Hurricane.

Toyed with the idea of moving to Christchurch...but then it's ALWAYS on the news up here - if it's not Boy Racers in Jap cars crashing into each other then it's street prostitutes, abductions and murders....Decided that was a jaded view so went and had a look for myself...got stuck in a traffic jam for 2 hours...no different to Auckland after all. Handed back the keys to the hire car and got on the next 'plane out.
