Thanks to everyone who came, you all made it a great ride. Special thanks to Mav for putting it all together.

It was great to meet you all in person... putting faces to aliases and all that.
I could write a library on all the stuff I don't know if I knew it!

    Cool

Not sure if you are doing the ride out south on Sunday... as it says the dates for saturday and Sunday...

But if it is Sunday....... please watch out on the southern motorway in the morning / early arvo.

Brockie memorial cruise - Holdens galore on the southern motorway.

See this thread in Trade Me and read the first post for details etc..

Would hate for the bikes to get all tangled up in this event... as they are expecting hundreds of cars.

W00t! Great ride out - good to put some more faces to nicks and talking bikey things in general. Interesting view that Maverick took us to see...it was like...white...and foggy... Purloined a copy from Helen Clark's opening of the lighthouse or something like that - tried not to be hit by speeding motorcade doing 160+ on narrow rural roads!

Will get some photos posted laters when I can be arsed editing and resizing and ... you get the idea

Great group ride, nice to see everyone being sensible but I also had a bit of a snigger when I saw gareth_d doing his "Look ma! No hands!" and "Whee! My legs are free!".

Sorry to see McJim peeling off early, methinks domestic emergency? Hope all is well.

Kudos again to Mav for organising and doing the scouting (I think its an excuse just to do more riding! )

Too much typing, must keep riding!

Great day - enjoyed myself - welcome to the new faces Sallo and Searchin' - good to meet you.
My peeling off was not really an emergency just that I HAD to be home by 4:00pm sharp and I realised at the lighthouse that I wasn't going to make it. I did warn Mav that I would probably hoon my own way home. Went out Thursday night and today - no brownie points left for me for a while - maybe a fortnight before I see anyone out on the road again!

The beautiful sea views Mav raved about were about as interesting as the inside of a ping pong ball. Effing fog.

Good news is my new number plate has arrived too which means people will know it's me on my bike.

No - he didn't do any wheelies after most junctions and didn't do a stoppie in Harris road......and I observed the speed limits all the way.

that's why it's called the responsible 250cc ride.:

Cool And so the crew did meet at Harris, for the journey to come!

I was late arriving to the 9.30 kick off due to my old's washing machine springing a leak, McJim txted me and apparantly I gave back some gibberish and then he phoned me and still couldn't understand my kiwi accented gibberish.

    "So, you comin' or what?"
"Yes! Be there in 10 minutes!" sez I,
"Don't get a speeding ticket willya then!" sez he!

So on my bike, my son
    I did sally forth
On the straights I hit the ton-
And realised I was heading North!
    With sheepish grin
    And fanging the revs
To Harris Rd, so we can begin!

Beneath are the usual rogues gallery of ne'er do wells and cuthroat merchants as has been gathered. Supped well on the fumes of petroleum products and shooting the breeze, waiting for their tardy member...

No prizes for guessing who the retard with a kb member sitting in his backpack is!

To the Hunuas, hi-ho, hi-ho, its off to ride we go!

So making our way through Botany into Clevedon and out to the twisties of the Hunuas, much riding was celebrated and certain was our cause!

T'was fine, t'was overcasted, but with two wheels, brightness is near at hand!
We few, we merry few - we band of brothers (blessed with one sister)
did don our gear, visage terrible to behold
With petrol tanks full to brim, weapons of riding
We charged with no fear - we let slip our throttles and cried "Havock!"
And unleashed our engines of mayhem! With 250 caged cats we rode like scolded felines!

The short break after the twisties saw Maverick with a most perplexed countenance. His prized spectacles had been made into a spectacle since he had dropped them and someone had o'er ridden them!

He was not dismayed, he was not paled, he doffed them on and let his engines revs wail!

Onwards and upwards, to Waiuku we shall wend! Be not dismayed, be not disheartened gentle reader - next instalments shall be a corker!

    To the 'Ku!

At Waiuku way, we growled to a stop -
Famished stomachs and parched throats needed refreshing
A sight to see, steeds parked side by side -
And into Kentish Pub we dived!

Forsooth, well met publican and barmaid wench!
Lubricants imbibed, cloven hoof beast devoured,
    Carbohydrated starch sticks fried consumed,
We liberally languished in the limpid lounge,

With the mercurial Sun heaving into the sky
and fighting the encroach of Moon's dark domain
We fled the establishment - ashamed at one of our own
Yellow skinned and red dotted Pokemon
Could not hold it's liquor and acted misbegotten!

Supped on two flagons of malted hopped products,
Slurped down one glass container of Jack and Cola's finest
Dashed to table and had to be lifted clear!

Tarry not here any longer gentle reader, scroll on down or
find the next journals posting of the salubrious crew,
And their travails down to the back and beyond!

Tis' better to receive head then give it och'aye th'noo!

Final Destination in view, Maverick's reputation as a libertine,
rascal, mendicant, supplicator and harlequin well founded,

To Manukau Heads we espied, for white with mist enclosed -
Droplets of liquid sunshine played with our passing,
Roads slicked with moisture, bovine defecate,
The joys of gravel sides and steep ravines unrevealed...

Much mirth and dilletante discussions were aspired to -
Full of fart, piss and vinegar we strolled
Of facts and figures amusing, oh how droll, very droll

Lighthouse on Manukau's Head discovered anew
Turns out Right Honourable Helen Clark had just done the opening
Lucky us, not to be hit by their travelling entourage at 160 plus!
We shot the breeze, the walk up hill made us wheeze
(We weren't all that sorry to eventually leave!)

To home we roared, emboldened by our derring-do
Not least, by the antics of a certain Pikachu!
Our bold band of brothers (and one blessed sister)
broke apart, such tenous bonds divided by the hour

Thoughts of home we turned, filled up at Caltex, Waiuku's gain
Split off half at Drury's maiden gates,
Another gone at Hunua's twisty gorge, good bye mate
Till Maverick and gijoe were laying the rubber down

Till Clevedon passed, and we rode alone - a knocking on my helmet
Pikachu piping up "Pika, pika-pika Pikachu?" *

    * translated from Pokemon as : "Are we there yet?"

    Postscripte :

    1. Agin' th'big McJim is bleedin' bluddy in tha'photo again!
    2. The last photo is apparantly what we meant to be able to see on a good day. Bollocks.
    3. I think the fog and mist was to stop pig hunters shooting at the Right Honourable Helen Clark when she was lit up by the lighthouse
    4. No correspondence will be entered into, all ideas that are good are mine, any that are daft belong to McJim.
    5. For some reason we had to walk up to the lighthouse instead of riding our bikes up. Why have bleedin' ferk'n rides if'n we don' use da daft things?
