And half of the scenic drive around Lake Wairere is the same.

Not sure I'd agree that 22 is "fine"!

22 is what 22 is.... has to be treated with respect as it will always have roads slumping etc..... But I love it warts and all

To be fair, they have repaired one of the worst parts, and quite a few sections have been resealed during the last couple of summers.

It certainly is a challenging ride, but great fun. There seem to be more bikes using it these days - I recently saw a Harley holding up a car on one of the tight sections!

22 is a country road and should be treated as such. Any country road can have challenges.

Absolutely. Especially in the Far North!

There was something in the media last year about recognising that it is a motorcycle touring route, and how NZTA, ACC and Waikato district council have developed a plan to improve the road. We're starting to see the results of this, including the Safer Rides signs.

    Nice idea,

fixing it it with layers of unswept chip seal is going to fix it.

    yeah right.

we need more creative tourism being a Mecca for bikes, riding etc is a good start, we need to improve our whole community driving skills.

we have the scenery in a very small area that most other countries are envious of. We should use it.

i liked riding the roads we have done in the past couple of weeks, somewhat better than 22

I managed a couple of good slides on that chip seal. At least the road after the Raglan turnoff is OK.

    Where have you been riding?

The bit going south after the Ralan turn off is epic.

Well it is drizzly here in papakura. Want to go but not sure.
Typical the bike has been cleaned. Helmet cleaned. The gloves and boots waxed and polished. Fuelled up. Then shit happens. Even got off work early.

Good call. Caseye probably wrapped up in cotton wool asleep it's easing off but decisions made. Next week or sat/sun. Already been to downtown Ongarue this week for work.
