Well guys and girls of the SATNR ride, I rode out around the coast to Kaiaua today, I meet up with a bunch of mostly BMW Adventure riders at the pub, in the garden bar, spoke with all of them and admired their rides. Awesome to see the back fence lined with morotcycles again.
I ordered the scallpo and chips and a piece of John Dory and a Pint, got way with change from $30 BUCK. Surprised and stunned at the continued fact that the pub serves better and fresher seafood than the well known and established fish and chip shop in close proximity to the pub!
The meal was as good as it always was/is here at the Kaiaua Pub, having said that I was told the pub has recently changed hands and I'd like to thank the new owners for not scaling down everything they do as other new owners are want to do.
A big thank you to those same new owners who it appear have retained all/most of the original staff, another good idea and one which I think has already paid off for them as the place was humming and getting busier by the hour while I was there.
Always had a soft spot for the Kaiaua, I'd like to think that our Thursday nights might go back to a traditional Kaiaua once a month deal, we also organised weekend rides and were known by the previous owners who gave us their complete and undivided attention when we filled the garden bar with bikes and happy customers.
My suggestion for this Thursday night, assuming werι not swimming for our lives, is to arrive at the Kaiaua for dinner at about 8.15 pm and lets see if we can't reestablish the old rapor with the locals and the owners/staff there.
my meal today was astonishingly good value and it's quality and freshness was beyound reproach, I'll be back!
Mostly repeats what I sad above, but there is a link to the Kaiaua Pubs web site too, enjoy you bike riding mudgkins.
