Blacker than a black thing. So black that even the white bits were black.

For resale value I would go for a gloss with maybe a pearl added as I think a matt would look tatty pretty quick.

The SR-71 Blackbird aircraft is painted black.

But it isn't. It is "high emissivity blue" which is indistinguishable from black by the naked eye...

Just thought you should know this....

OK. Going back to my corner now.

Whatever you do, don't go for matt black as it looks revolting, like it is waiting for the top coat! My Goose is a great colour - looks plain (but shiny!) black from a distance but when you get it in the sun it is metallic and can sometimes look almost dark blue. Very purdy!

Speaking of bike paint jobs, I still have two favourites - the gang member's Triumph painted metallic pink and that gorgeous tangerine colour Triumph had a few years ago - just gorjus!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Matt black - the chrome can be the shiny bits. Chrome shines brighter against matt black.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them
