if you want matt black, put some accents on it, at a minimum some shiney black patterns or stickers up the tank and stuff..

Otherwise it looks like it has been binned too many times.

I like the shiney look. With sparkles I dunno, sounds like evening wear.
Or that mother of peal someone mentioned sounds like good compromise

Thanks all for the suggestions... I did a lot of looking around this weekend, at different blacks in bike mags and spoke to a few more people...

I'm just waiting back on a quote or two... If the price comes back right I may just be getting it done black (shiney... some sort) and blue. If that comes back as too expensive or no-can-do then it'll be a shiney black of some sort... I like the sound of the "Pearl" black, so again we'll see

    Thanks again

by all accounts matt black, whilst looking cool, is a bitch to put on, keep clean and it wears real badly, 'cus you can't lacquor it to protect the paint

    Um...

As far I know my options are:

    Matt Black
    Shiney Black
    Black with sparkles (I dunno)

Are there any other blacks I've missed out?

    And what do you think?

SOmething that i looked at for my bike, is matt black frame with gloss black bike and *maybe* a few white decals. The matt black frame looks really good, i just did one in the garage and it acutally looked really good. (use a good paint though)
Add to that a tinted windscreen and it will look sexy.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

I won't be doing the paintjob myself, i wouldn't know where to start, and because i'm paying to get it done, getting the frame done would cost extra because they would have to remove the enigine and stuff right?

I love that idea, but its not in my budget at the moment

My last bike was black, but had a charcoal frame and wheels. Looked surprisingly good, and split up the black on the body work and engine rather well.

I think the only chrome was on the fork stanchions, pipe, and footrest heel plates.

The black was gloss with metallic blue/purple specks (Suzuki).

What colour are the wheels going to be? That could make a bit of difference as well

Well the rims are staying the colour they are... which is a dark grey/black-ish type colour. See the pic in my profile... those are the rims, so thats the colour...

Black with a pearl thru it...
I had a Harley that was black with a magenta pearl. It looked blacker than black except in certain lights... kinda gave the paint more depth.

    lol no

I just spoke to the mechanic, and he reckons the bike won't be ready for another 3 weeks (I was hoping to have it back this weekend ) I asked him about the guy he was sourcing to do the paintjob... and he said approx $700 for one colour, and it doesn't include the rims.

If I decide to get the paint job through him I won't have the bike back for another 4-5 weeks.

*is tired of waiting... its been over 10 months now*

    Anyway... yeah.

I'm leaning towards the shiney black.
