    Starter clutch removal tool.

Has anyone got a starter clutch removal tool?

I need it for my bandit, don't know if it's specific to this bike or not.

It has an internal 35mm thread that screws onto the starter clutch, then a bolt in the middle pulls the clutch off the crankshaft.

I had a spill on the weekend, the LH crankcase cover broke and there are a few stones in there, it seems there is a fair bit of dust/dirt on the back of the starter clutch and feels like there is a bit of grit in it too, so I'm thinking I'd better remove it to clean it properly.

Hmm, looks like I'm going to need a 'rotor holder' tool for the generator rotor on the other end of the crankshaft so that I can undo the starter clutch bolt.

I think I'll try to clean the starter clutch in place.

Had a problem with my GS1200.

this unit had come loose and disengaged from the smaller starter gear.

A piece of lead between the gears allowed me enough tension to torque up this gear. Without damage.

    May work

    thanks for the suggestion.
I've managed to clean it by pouring petrol over it with the bike on an angle so the petrol didn't drain into the engine. Should be all sweet now...
