    Question Dilemma..

Ok, I have a bit of a dilemma (hope that's spelt correctly lol).

I'm trying to decide which sort of gear I should get. When I get a bike I would like to do some track days, a little bit of touring and riding into/out of town for errands/meeting with mates/youth group etc.. So I've been told that if I want to do track days I should get a one piece leather suit, If I want to do touring then cordura stuff is the best and if I want to do town/ errands stuff then dragon jeans with a leather jacket is better.

I have at max $1000 for gear so it's not like I can go buy all that stuff, is there some way I can still do the track days, travelling and town with out having to buy 3 different types of gear?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Just get a two piece zip together suit... not as good as the 1 piece, but close enough, you can then use the jacket and draggins for town stuff, and touring will be sweet with leather as well.

Weasel is right. Go the 2-piece leather. Versatile and practical. Don't forget good footwear (boots are best) and gloves (ensure you cover the seasons you will be riding ie get what you need for the current time of year & add to when you can afford)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I've got a one piecem leather and a codura suit. The one piece is great for piece of mind but useless for touring. No pockets and whenever you stop, you look like an idiot peeling the damn thing off.

If I did it again, I'd go 2 piece leather. Remember, there is no compromise for quality.

aaaahhhh, i faced this problem just recently myself. (except i already had helmet, gloves, and old leather bike jacket and left over leather school shoes)

    I currently own:
    hjc cl12 helemt - $160
spool 2 peice leathers - $900 (shops rrp was $1200)
3m gloves - bros old ones - freebie, zip, zero, nada
    spool 7-link back proctector - $120
sidi vertigo (waterproof liner version) - $550

will look at upgrading the helmet and gloves soon.

I currently wear all this gear every day to work even though its a 10 minute trip, today though i left the back protector at home though. I dont own any cordura or similiar, if i was to go somewhere i would wear all my gear.

You could always go for a speed hump, its like a quick shag but with more warning signs.

    I told him,
"Son, what is it with you? Is it ignorance or apathy?"

    He said,
    "Coach, I don't know and I don't care."

2 piece leather... it will do for everything...
Some people would be horrified at the suggestion of wearing anything but leather... but its each to their own and if you wanna wear jeans in hot weather then go for it.
There are some good threads about Draggin Jeans on this site. Check them out.

Get a quasimoto Leathers 2 piece.
Crash tested road and track, (thankyou, thankyou, no need for the applause) they do the trick, and unlike most shop leathers, you will walk away with change from your thousand bucks.

I tour on weekends/commute through the week and even pop to the supermarket in the evening for milk and bread etc.

All of this I do in 2 piece zip together leathers (as modelled in my profile pic....no not in the Avatar - that's Fat Bastard - the profile pic!)

    Works for me.

I got all my kit from Motomail in Auckland though - really helpful dudes and really affordable at their Kingsland Outlet. They have a website

Problem is you can't wear it first coz you're not in Auckland.
