Take the time TODAY to walk around YOUR house. Think like a burglar and decide HOW you would break into YOUR house. What is available in your garden/next to your house that will assist scumsuckers to break in (and get rid of whatever it is).
Make your place less tempting to break into!
    Do you have an alarm?
Do you have a support network with neighbours?

    Do it today!

Policeman Swoop (since the real ones are too busy with donuts and taxation)...
Or you could just have two large dogs. Spend a lot of time training a medium sized dog, such as my border collie / black lab, then get a large schitzo white german shepherd who will sees the collie as alpha dog and follow whatever it does.

    Ergo, team tag burglar system.

In some countries, they chop their hands off...

I think they castrate speeding bikers too...

I'll take my chances with the burgs...

That really sucks. I have been burgled once. Emptied my house except the fridge/oven and freezer when I was overseas. Turns out it was a friend of my brothers and he knew the place was empty. Got hold of the guy (who was about 16 or 17) and went to a "family confrence" or whatever they call it. It sat there very smug cause he knew he wasn't in any real trouble. My fist accidently connected with his head on the way out after the confrence and the officier had the ordacidy (sp?) to ask this kid if he wanted to lay charges. He looked at me and decided better of it and said he was ok and didn't want to take it any further. All my good stuff (electronics) were found stuffed under his parents house and were all buggered. insurance was just as brutle as they always are but I got over it.

As someone said earlier, Just as well your wife and kids were unaware. That would be a really big concern of mine. I don't mind coming up against some dumbarse who needs a short lesson in why they shouldn't be in my house but coming up against the little woman or worse, my kids would get my back up big time.

That's pretty worrying to know the scum was in your house while family members were home. Thankfully they were only after things they could turn into money, but I'd be fitting some locks to all my windows now.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

I hope the secure, safe feeling returns to your home very quickly.
Thanks Mom, we have some security measures, but it's always a compromise having security vs convenience. I like having the windows fullly open in summer, so we didn't do the security stays..... having them might have saved us the hassle last night...... we all slept fine last night so I guess we'll be OK

Unfortunately it's relatively common in our area.... don't think it'll be goin away and onto another area. Our neighbours have a security camera mounted out front because they always get tagged - we're hoping they got footage of the event!

Well, the police turned up early this morning, so that was good, and my wife says they were as helpful as could be. Windows fixed, security stays quoted for and booked ( I'd rather be out riding than taking ages fitting them myself ). And we're swapping some of the outside light for the sensor variety....

All good - get the locks on the bike changed too - they have your spare keys don't they? The insurance company should cover that too...!

Not that simple on the S.A.I.S protected gixxers. You can only match 4 keys to the ECU before you have to bin it and get a new one and being one down cos of a burg would mean that you better be fuckin careful with your keys.

I'm hopeless with keys so I shit myself whenever I "misplace" them.

I've got about 8 gixxer keys lying around though.

Geez - that's bad news... FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY. If they don't do it they've just volunteered the bike to get stolen. I lost keys to our car once and (AMI?) replaced the locks gratus... no fee at all to me as policy holder. One of the few times I've actually been happy with an insurer.

That's a lie, you are not allowed to say stuff like that on KB!!!!

Anyhoo, sorry to hear about your burg, makes me wild that that sort of shit happens all the time to guys who have WORKED to get what they have.

Why can't these tagging/drug taking slack-jawed *illiterate oxygen robbing layabouts get their shit together and do something positive with the life they have (Like get a job would be a good start) instead of screwing other peoples lives up as well as their own??

*My pet laugh: hearing one of the above ilk saying 'aks' instead of 'ask', how retarded is that!!!??? (and it's harder to say 'aks')
