Hi slikchick. . . . . someone will be able to help you with places to go around Auckland, but if you can get up this way (Warkworth ) I know lots of places without too much traffic. Have sussed them out in my early days and still frequent them often.
Just getting further afield now. Went to Dargarville today . . now that is a fantastic ride with almost no traffic to speak of and really beautiful . Of course you have to do a bit on the main highway, but it's not too bad. You could ride to Wellsford on H. 16 and just do the main road bit to the Mangawhai turnoff. Its my favorite ride . . you come out at Kaiwaka. Then a bit more main rd to the bottom of the Brynderwyns. Not that far and not that difficult.
Hope you are enjoying your motorcycle as am I . Good luck and have fun.

You'll love the vulcan tho for the extra go power!
You are correct . . . the GN is VERY forgiving. She has handled all my beginner mess ups without difficulty. Today she took me nearly 300 k's with nary a problem. We had a great ride in fabulous weather. Went u p North.

Yes I think I will enjoy the Vulcan. I prefer cruisers and when I found this bike with the low centre of gravity plus low seat height I was really interested.
I first came across it in the States this last June. It was so new out the dealer had not had much feed back so I hit the internet over there and read all I could find. Some of the chats were interesting.
Back home again I visited Spectrum in Auckland's North Shore. They had one in (ordered unfortunately) but I was able to check it out again. It felt as great as ever and I am hoping it will be just what I want.

Meantime I am getting in all the experience possible on the GN . . . .
