    Bike Shops in Auckland?

Off to the big smoke in mid October for a few days. Thought I'd wander around the bike shops - as you do. Kick a few tyres, maybe try a bike out. Originally thought of renting one but not enough time.

So, are the bike shops in any particular area or scattered around? Any suggestions? Probably rent a car for a couple of days so I can get out of the central city.

    Cheers
    Winston

Hey mate, There are a few around Auckland. But if your not familiar with driving around it may be hard to find. I would surgest heading to Barrys Point Rd, Takapuna, North Shore. There is a Honda and Suzuki dealer on that road who are pretty good to deal with. Also on the same road there is a motorcycle accessories shop called, Cycletreads which is worth a look. If your looking for ridding gear, I sugest heading to a place called Motomail. They also have an outlet store that has some good deals at times. Call
0800 MOTOMAIL for details. I see you ride a BMW, there is a BMW dealer in Newmarket but I can't think of the street that it is on, phone book will be able to tell you.
If you are going to test ride a bike I recommend the new GSX-r600, very nice ride!
Hope you have fun in the big smoke!
Feel free to PM me if you need someone to have a beer with or what ever!!

Oi, the dude's asking us for our opinion. If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything at all.

Ahem... Winston, Mt Eden Motorcycles would be my first pick. Colemans Suzuki be my second, and steer clear of Red Baron. Can't say I have any experience with any of the others though.

There's a thing called a phone book. look in the yellow pages under ' Motorcycle Dealers'
PS keep watching this space, I'll tell you of one to avoid.

Save us from bitter bike shop employees......

Bike shops are well spread around the greater Auckland area so your own transport (or a sense of hunour and a couple of spare days) are required for getting around.
Central city shops are: Motomail, AMPS, Red Baron, Mt Eden motorcycles, Haldanes and a gazillion scooter shops.

IMHO all bike shops have something to offer, have a good play

the Above Aucklanders have demonstrated the kind of attitude to expect from the bike shops in Auckland .
Do yourself a BIG favour drive an hour south go to Hamilton, all the bike shops are on one road walking distance, they are all 3-4 miins away from perfect twisty riding roads and they all have current model demonstrators that you can try out.
beats looking at maps and google and all that shit, not to mention fighting traffic jams between bike shops. I would be happy to give you a tour of the shops and introduce you to all the sales guys ensuring you get a good test ride

    Auckland sucks
Ive run out of fucks to give

Exackery. If Google and a phone book were all I needed, I wouldn't have posted. In most smaller cities, like Christchurch and Hamilton, the bike shops congregate in a general area so it is a short stroll between them. I don't know Auckland and wondered if it was the same. Apparently not.

I already know about AMPS and appreciate the suggestions of other places to go. Thanks guys.
