Give me the situ we have in hand at the moment, it ain't perfect but its a damn sight better then the alternatives.

Every American I've met has been a competent, intelligent and thoughtful citizen of the world, heck they even apologise for Bush and the jerk things their country gets into at times! The only negative stereotype I've met was when I was in China and the atypical fat Floridan family were speaking so loud, I could hear them half a block away "Goddamit! Why the hell are all the signs in Chinese? They should speak American!" Thought I was in a Mad magazine skit there!
there are some people who should not be let out in public ..and after the farcical US election that brought Bust into the White House .. Floridians are at the top of the list..

Don't know where you got that from Sarge. I'm in daily contact with several Floridian's, have been for a few years, and I haven't heard one good word about Bush. The general consensus of opinion there was that he stole the presidency. Al Gore rated much higher than Bush and if Floridians had their way he would be the next in line for the job.

the whole electoral college thing is a fuckup.. one persons vote does not count.. a candidate can win the state in popular vote but lose the vote in districting just because of the way it is laid out .. but that is the way the US Constitution has laid it out .. too bad some mad scientist political analyst has figured out a way to spin it to nefarious uses

i may have been too quick in condemning all Floridians as backwoods retards however

All very well Sarge, and I'm generally sympathetic to Americans but how about not using styrofoam at all? It is made from oil. Cardboard made from trees or straw does the job just as well, is biodegradeable and from a renewable source. In fact McDs do that in NZ - why not in the land of the free?

These things are now made in China and exported to the USA which is loosing industry left right and centre. Eventually, the US will react but it will be too late as they will loose the critical mass of middle class consumers.

    Cheers
Absolutely spot on. The industrial growth with its comcomitant pollution in China and India etc is driven by Western consumerism. And the emerging third world people want those consumer goods too. After all, they aspire to the same lifestyles we have which is perfectly natural. But it might just kill a lot of us as the biosphere turns sick.

Better get that vege garden planted while something still grows.

It started with Merkin arrogance Sarge. After 50 years, no-one gives a shit that you won WW2, albeit arriving late. Most of this generation know stuff all about that. But they do see plenty of American political imperialism around the world, Iraq is just the latest example.
Then there's the older generation who grind their teeth in rage whenever they hear some denizen of deepest Otara or Mangere trying to affect an East LA accent as he attempts to be a 'gangsta'.
It's called cultural imperialism. Typified by inflicting their styrofoam Big Mac's on us, laugh tracks on comedies (if they were funny, we wouldn't need laugh tracks), talk shows attempting to find the dumb and dumbest.
And finally, the things that makes Americans beyond redemption in my eyes, you gave us the unholy trinity - George Dubya, Tom Cruise and Paris Hilton.
Civilisations have been destroyed for less.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.
