And for that matter, are the bikes there the real deal or knock-offs?

    Well....

For those who have been here, you will know that for every 1 car there is about 6 scooters/motorbikes. Most of which are wearing the helmets i was looking at. The guy we are touring with has said "I see these guys crash with these helmets all the time at 80kph+ and because they dont wear any gear (Such as leathers)... Thier body is messed up but the helmet always seems to be fine...

I do have a proper helmet at home which i paid a decent amount for, but this one was just sooo much prettier.

I guess ill play it safe and leave it

As a paramedic once put it: "one buying such a helmet risks a skull injury in case of an accident (you can't injure what you don't have)".
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule

Get a piccie of it! You could always have it as a souvenir and hang a potted plant in it!
