a can of heat resistant black spray paint should do the trick

CRC is your friend spray it on everything, not the breaks for reason stated but shines up the bike and keeps it rust free for longer, and so cheap.

Thanks for the responses. I brought the bike from Tauranga as Wgtn Motorcycles did not have any in stock...for 3 months....sigh but then your all right you get what you pay for, wish i had found a second hand fzr 250........for the same price....might write to Suzuki, i have heard of several cases through the disputes tribunals where they have been made to fix this issue but i think i have left it too long...if you have the same issues after 6 months don't wait ring Suzuki and ask them about it.

but i get my full in 3 months and then i can buy something better.....wish i had sat it 10 years ago after i got my learners...

    Cheers
    All.

i took an M109 for a ride a couple of weeks ago. bolts were starting to rust on it, and it lives in a showroom, never ridden in the rain, and only had 2000kms on it anyway.

not much hope for the ginny then is there

i bought mine in november last year. so far, the plate under the exhaust pipe is rusting [not the actual pipe!] and the screws under the instruments. also the mirror stems i think have a little at the bottom.

i keep my bike clean when i can...been a while since ive had a good polish though due to the shit weather. got just shy of 10k on the clock, rides in all weather, sometimes sits in the rain at work, but is under cover at night, only been left out 3 nights since ive had it.

i also had an 86 ginny. the upper exhaust [where it meets the motor] was rusted pretty bad. actually took a craft knife to it a few times to get it off. the headlight surround had a few rust spots as did the fenders. not bad for 19 years old, lol. by the time i was done, however....lol. different story.

i also would rather be on my ginny than a scooter capable of a top speed of about 60k. blow that. i cant see going to palmy every few weeks on a nifty somehow.

Hell no, man i see scooters riding on Wellington motorway on the verge and that scares the hell out of me....only a matter of time before one of them gets squashed.......

Well as said only a few more months and then i can flick it and get something bigger/better...has any one had issues with the Hyosungs coming in?

What the....not a very good advert for the M109....trying to go figure, for there top of the line cruiser you should expect more. If the dealership is not doing basic husbandry [old word] on their marketing bike then....

Meanwhile, aside from popping an unintentionall wheelie on my GN, yes wheelie well I am not too sure how high [I let go] the Golf November Two Five Zero has done 8300km since May, all pure recreation riding, therefore longest out from undercover is [say 4 hours] but average no more than 3hrs a ride if that.

Always wipe it down when in from the rain. Grease the chain when it is time for the 3rd tank fill, and generally clean it down every week.

I expect to get some deterioration, ie flacking chrome, but so far so good.

Heads Up and Enjoy [damn shame about that 109 though]

Thanks for giving us all some info eh.

My 2006 GN is left in the rain ev-er-ee single night. Ha! Rusting it sure is. Thought about a cover but realised I'm too bloody lazy to be putting it on and off.

Actually, just put a screen on it too (off a BMW), so much nicer to ride eh. Will post pictures and directions on making cheeky home made mounts for cheap eventually. If ya wanna know urgently, private message me.

Oh and to make you all smile, I'm 6'5" too, look bloody ridiculus on a GN. But used to own 2 scooters! Ha! Go the GN's!
To split or not to split, that is the question
