Well XTRA have totally killed my exchange after "unleashing" the internet.

I've gone from a stable 1.9mbit/180k (on 2mbit plan) to 0.7mbit/124k on Go Large plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After being on hold for 90 minutes, I finally got a reasonable guy on the phone and got a nice little deal for a month (free) on a max/max plan. If this solves my issues I will be going to another ISP for a max/max plan rather than staying with Xtra after what they have done.

Dude said to me they have an "action team" looking in to why so many customers are getting really poor service............I said "shit mate its not rocket science, you have doubled the number of people per pipe what do you expect!!!!!!"

    aye same with me

went from 3.2/128 solid during peak times on orcons 3.5/128 plan

am now on max/max which equals 2.8mb/116 during peak (yet to test unpeaked) but it does look like the upload is sort of bursting.....

on the bright side, my ping in counter strike has dropped from 84ish to 30ish on nz servers and from 120 to 70 on aus servers

i heard a rumour that they were going to upgrade the exchanges again

Download Speed: 3997 kbps (499.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

up from 1900 kbps it was before on $39 plan, I upped to the Go large because we are always cracking the limit.

Just keep in mind, often to get these higher speeds the modems have to be capable of it, I think you have to have a DSL2+ modem to get above 4Mps, all these modems that the ISPs have been giving away may not be capable of the higher speeds???

same speed for me. Never used xtra b4 (heard the horror stories), but so far impressed.

Rung technical support twice, both times minimal on hold period - friendly helpful staff

    Thats shocking ping,

My ping was around 14-20 on NZ severs and I am on a wireless connection which I would assume slows shit up!?

aye, atleast its an improvement though - still would rather have cable though.

what sort of wireless though? whoosh style? cos our work conection is wireless (to a fibre line connected to the wix network) and we get <10 ping from there to pretty much all of nz

speeds still suck, while I was at the Kendog's place today they showed me www.speedtest.net - all i can say is check it out
