Got a new job and a highlight is the route to work

Yippee! Found out at 10.30 this morning that my interview for the position of 'Payroll / HR Coordinator' was successful. Neat job and a good strategic move for me (same salary but broadening my knowledge base). One of the best things though is the new route to work and you better believe that it played a part in the decision to accept. Instead of my current 11km traffic light controlled commute (albeit with a nice low-traffic-volume 4 km stretch alongside the Avon) I will shortly have a pleasant 20 km toodle that has nice long section on the eastern ring road (70 / 80 kph) and then after little a bit of traffic lightery, about 3 km of twisty road with no lights until I get to work. Sweet!

Won't beat the commute I used to have before we shifted to Chch though. Twizel to Mount Cook each morning. Glorious! (when you could see the mountain that is)

Congrats on the new job Oakie, I always consider the commute one of most important things when applying for work. I've had to travel up to an hour each way in the past, and also only 5 mins each way...don't you know that I was late more often to the job that was only 5 mins commute!

all you have to do is start timing your runs to and from now................I had Devonport to Wairau Park down to a couple of mins and thats with the lights (not recommended though)

Congrats on the new job and goodonya for the commute!

I started a new job (in a new country) in July, have a very good commute of 200km to work and back each day!

Start with a smile and end with a smile!

Its a 5 minute ride for me (or less!) ... but I still take the bike in, seems to take me 2 hours or more to get back home! Go figger!

G'wan, you know you want to ride in...and then ride out...and keep riding!

I guess I'm just not biker enough.

The commute doesnt even come into it with me and jobs.. All I care about is the money vs how much work they actually expect out of me.. Lots of money is good, lots of money for doing sod all is even better!
