What sort of gear did you have, just out of curiosity? Did you have a back protector, you mentioned you had a few rolls, do you think it saved your back if you did have one?
Had a revit Monza jacket , I would say yes the padding in the back definitly helped out , my arms are far worse than my back which hurts only on the lower left side.

I also noticed that all the grass and dirt stains are on the areas where there is protection - hips , shoulders etc so i feel that the gear did its job well.

Also thanks to everyone for your online support

Hrmmm, I shall definitely be investing in one of those back protectors for my upcoming rides over summer. I really don't care if it makes me a fair bit warmer on the bike, I kinda like being able to walk....

Dewd, glad to hear you're okay - sounds like your Asphalt Angel specialises in crash protection! Good to hear you had the gears that saved you from mega-mondo ouchy ouchies As for your ride ... Sounds like you managed to identify where it went pear shaped and reflected on it, just get back on the saddle when you can, ride out to the spot again and ride it through normally.

At least you're posting, there was people around to help and now the next pain...handling insurance process

Hey Jeaves, glad to hear you're ok, try Greg at Spectrum bike shop in Takapuna, he will sort out repairs and qoutes for insurance for you. You can call this lesson number 1 in why good gear is worth it! lol
