    When the point gets missed...

Over the weekend, I went into a shop to buy a tent (going to a festival in a couple of months... and I can't face the prospect of trying to clean my old tent which has been in the bag for two years this August - and it was wet and muddy when it was last in the open).

Anyway, I find the tent I want, go to the counter and hand over the money. Sales type asks me "Do you want a bag for that?"

So I say no - after all, it comes in it's own carry-case, so no point wasting a bag on it.

Sales type looks at me like I am mad - and then looks out the window, where it is admittedly a bit dark and is probably going to rain - before looking back at me quizzically.

This rather misses the point - after all, the tent IS waterproof!

Mind you, this isn't as bad as an article I read. Little girl goes into diabetic fit. So her mum runs into the nearest sweet shop and asks for some chocolate. Girl behind counter "Do you want it gift-wrapped?"

Anyone else had any really dumb responses like this?

The waterproof test happened on the way home!

You can tell it is Summer over here - the rain comes in shorter bursts...

    retail stupidity

Yes, I have been served by somewhat inane types, but nothing beat when I was at Mitre 10 (hardware shop for the benefit of U.K.Kbers) and a customer wanted a step ladder gift wrapped (and they did), a bloody ribbon would have sufficed- it's not as if you would start to open it and say "my goodness, a step ladder I never would have guessed".

Yeah mate what a laugh who would think that ordering a meal could provide so much :confused2 entertainment, never go there again(unless I get bored) , Hey that would have been a good place for a certain young man from Tauranga to go, I guess if he wanted somewhere more exciting than a week in Aks, a day in waiouru would fit the bill

I work in a Govt Dept contact centre and we offer a translation service. The translation service is done by a different company and we have to call them and then go through the process of introducing ourselves. Anywaaaaaaay...over the last few days I've been calling and get the same woman answering and I always say "My name is Cathy from the CITIZENSHIP office requiring a translator..." and she always asks me "Do you require a translator for Citizenship, Passports or Births, Deaths & Marriages?"

Now my point is...wouldn't you realise if someone was calling from the CITIZENSHIP office that they could be calling about that???!!!
