And as for the stupid habit of EVERYONE (including the snails) speeding up when a passing lane comes up, that is stupid, selfish and dangerous, and has to do with the stupid Kiwi attitude that looks on being overtaken as a slight on one's manhood.

Well, our "friends" in the LTSA and the Police would argue that you shouldn't be doing any more than 100kmh anyway... Interestingly therefore that two lanes of traffic doesn't move any more traffic any more quickly. In fact when the powers that be cone off all of the passing lanes into and out of Wellington at long weekends the traffic flows along famously well. Give people two lanes and they don't know how to zipper merge (people who want to get home one car-length more quickly), you get two lanes of stopped traffic. Sigh.
