    Night ride 7th, Oct

I will be doing some long distance night riding on the evening of the 7th, Oct. Would be doing a loop starting in Auckland, going around the center of the north island and back to Auckland. All part of the pratice for the 1000 miler. If would like to join me. Please send me a PM.

It'll be a full moon evening, I have checked. And weather looks good for it at the moment.

I should warn you that Zapf goes a bit 'strange' under a full moon so take precautions. A clove of garlic wouldnt be inappropriate.

Good luck Zapf - excellent training run. Are you going round the Coro Loop too? We'll be in Coro all weekend if you need a coffee and to ease aching extremities up to about midnight or god forbid if you strike trouble through the night. Good luck for the GC too. You will be unbelievably proud after doing your first one, not to mention in a fair bit of pain . Look forward to your ride report.

    thanks for the offer Blackbird..

    Now about the ride..

I knew I need to get into shape, so it was decided that I'll go and join up with the northland ride during the day and then continue on into the evening for my pratice.

After getting ready quite late on Friday I found myself struggling to get out of bed on Sat morning, hence resulting in me meeting the group later at Russell missing out the old russell road. Spend the rest of the day cruising with the group and riding consistantly at around 120kph. Dropped into DMNTD's place for an hour or two for a rest and rode back to Auckland with SuperDave.

Arriving in Auckland around 10pm, I quickly found a place for a filling hot meal before getting ready for my ride around the darkerned north island.

Not having planned out a route, and not knowing where the 24 hour gas stations are. I decided to stick to the major highways and go to Tauranga, Rotoroua and Taupo in order.

Leaving Auckland and after the Bombays, a drizzle started and got heavier so the waterproofs came out rode via SH2 to

    to be contiuned

Sheesh Felix, if you had told us at Whangarei that you were intending on riding down to Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo & back that night i'm sure we would have all bowed down to your magnificence, as we were all fairly stuffed after riding all day let alone all night too! Glad to hear you did it anyway (i trust the continuation is a positive report), that Hornet must be one comfy beast.
