I am a fire and general insurance broker so I could help you out with quotes.

As well as home and contents I do bikes, cages or even your business if you have one.

If anyone else would like comparative quotations, private message me and see if I can arrange a better deal than your current insurer.

Get hold of Dave or Donna at www.kiwibike.co.nz. I'm sure they can see you right.

I am a Govt employee and a member of the PSA Union. We get really really cheap insurance through Vero. Just a thought if you did happen to be a PSA member yourself....

Don't try the AA if you need over $100k contents unless you have a house alarm as they won't consider you.

TOWER's service is poor but their products are good.

We are with AMP General (a division of Vero) - service is pretty poor again but we get a staff discount.

Consumer did a write up recently of various home and contents insurers - might pay to check out their website.

Don't know if that's any help at all tho...sorry!

I've been with AMI for years, couldn't fault them

As for AMP stay away from those useless buggers have a horror story from missus car got totalled trying to get these pricks to pay out.

Short story is. They inititally valued car at 3k, we asked for another assessor they came back with 6.5k (big difference). Woman handling claim went on holiday for 4 weeks, so in mean time I was taking missus from west auckland to airport then going back to city to my job and return run in evening for 6 weeks. Finally lost my rag and went bang on counters at Vero head office and told some head honcho to get their subsidary AMP to pay up or I will be seeking damages. 30 minutes later I had an apology and money was paid in to our account! Then the cheeky buggers tried to deduct the remainder of the years premium from the payout!
