    It's true.

Not one of the local women that I chatted to in the bars at Shekou port last Friday night had ever even heard of NZ.

In the end, I just started pointing to myself and saying "English". It was easier that way...

She is merely fulfilling her destiny. The movie role was a small abnormal blip in her life.
One she didn't have the wit to take advantage of.
Now there's one more snout in the public trough.

It's hard to spent time being a kid when there's so much pressure from society to force you to grow up as soon as possable. In this time where it's common for both parents to work long hours, you can be left on your own for most of a day so have to take on tasks and responsibilities(sp?) that a while ago (when a 16 year old was still a 'kid') would have been left up to their parents.
Some-what the social scene and drinking age I think is to blame...partying, drinking...then ending up in bed with someone you don't know isn't un-common..(this starts at around the age of...fourteen now )
And we wonder why the teen pregnancy rate is so high...

All this coming from a 17 year old who's seen that scene....it's not a pretty one

There are far to many DPB career holders, I say this as the citizens advice and winz virtually incourage it and accept it. A solo mum for example with 2 kids earns more on the DPB than someone working 40hrs on the adult miimum wage. In fact it works out to be 20% more and it increases to 50% with another child. That doesn't include by the way the accomadation suppliment and IRD rebates for family support. On a whole a solo mum does very well, for nothing. Thanks all us tax payers, we fund and financially support thousands of bludgers, and also thousands of carrer mums, go Labour, comunism at its peak. In terms of Keisha, well it seems to be a family trait, like mother like daughter. We all learn by example, and I guess thats whats tollerated in our society.
lol well put and sooo true all for the woman, govt and ird need there heads read

It's dissapointing to say the least to hear of another teen pregnancy. The fact that shes in the public eye doesn't do her any favours either. It just pisses me off that she'll probably get the DPB and hard working people like so many of us just get shafted by the govt.
I just hope she brings the child up to hopefully not make the same mistake she did and he does the decent thing and stay with her but I can't see that happening being so young.

I for one do not appreciate your comments regarding solo mothers.. I take it you have no kids...?? I can assure you.. being a solo parent is bloody hard work!!!! I am at work 24 hours of the day.. I have no one to come home at the end of the day & 'help'. As well as the total care for 2 young children, I have to do ALL the chores around the house, plus mow the lawns & do the gardens etc. plus being a student at Polytech! I went to see Steve Biddulph, who wrote the books "Raising Boys' & 'The secrets of happy children' & in his seminar he said.. "being a parent is like having a full time job, being a SOLO parent, is like having 2 full time jobs.. CONSECUTIVELY"!!!! I had to take my 4 year old son to A & E at midnight last Sunday, with a serious delayed allergic reaction.. we were there for 2 & 1/2 hours before we could come home.. he was back up again at 8.30 am.. as was I.. I had no one to help me all day Monday with a cranky 4 year old, while I was like a walking zomby myself from a serious lack of sleep.. & you claim.. "a solo mum does very well, for NOTHING". I would like to see you come here & do my JOB for a week.. then, & only then, you might have some sort of right to comment on the life of a solo mother!!

Well that's a good start but perhaps we should begin with your childhood...

Thats the plan....Just not nice to see it starting so early on in the teens.
Ahh it's so hard to be kid now.! it's like things are doing a u'ie and going back to biblical times regarding kids and paretns haha....kids at 16, then brothers and sisters raise their siblings...eep. did some-one say the father was her uncle?...

Single mothers do an excellent job most of the time! raising kids must be a hard job so give them a break, after all would you rather see a child with one of it's biological parents than in a foster home or with social services sucking even more money from the tax payer?..

    Are you hot?

If you're hot, you see, I'll feel kind of bad about taking the piss. So if you could confirm that before we proceed with this discussion, I'd be most appreciative.

I'm not sure Kitt Wyatt's comments were meant as a 'blanket rule'.

I had no idea just what a job having children to bring up on your own was like until I saw a 'solo mum of two' a few years back. She feed them, dressed them, taught them, delivered them, cleaned them, protected them and loved them. All in between studying nearly full time and working part time when she could. I take my hat off to any woman (or man for that matter) that copes solo. BUT.....I think Kitt Wyatt MAY be saying...that the system is set up for certain people to exploit. Someone that can't be fucked working. Better to have a couple of kids you can ignore and be paid to have, than just the dole.

Especially if you happen to collect the various 'living allowances' whilst living with a 'boyfriend'.
