Arrow An Idea. Would like some feedback - Extremely Serious, not about me!

Sorry if this has already been suggested but hear it goes.

After reading about the Amish tragedy and stuff, and hearing how they set up a trust fund for the family of the killer as he was their provider blah blah blah.
any who to get to the point. i was thinking maybe we should setup some kind of fund incase god forbid someone gets seriously injured or pass away. I know that ACC will pay you 80% of your earning while your off if you cant work, but most families are struggling to make ends meet on their current salaries, and with hospital bills the way they are etc etc.
KiwiBiker has like 5000 members, so if everyone were to chip in say 50c a week or something, thats only $26 a year we would have $130,000 if the need arises. I mean even 25c a week is still $65000 a year
Just an idea. You'd need a board of trustees for it like Spankme and some of the other mods and senior members and an account that requires numerous signatures for withdrawls etc.
    What do you guys think??

I know, but it would be cool if it did, I mean Mr Skid had an accident recently and he needed surgery (titanium stuffs) so he'll be out of the picture for a while and could probably use a hand

You mean well, and that's way cool. But as much as people that ride bikes stick together and help each other, they mostly need all the money they can get (save) to feed their addiction to 'twowheeleditis'.

Personal insurance and ACC are here to help us. Oh yeah, and if you have no faith in yourself, there's always God. He's the Tooth Fairy's cousin.

There may be 5000+ registered, but how many regular uses are there? Members that would log onto KB at least once a week? 200??

I'd say somewhere around that, so take that number and subtract everyone that doesn't want to pay 50c a week, and you're left with maybe 5- 10 people.

So if one of you crashes there'll be just about enough money there to get the bus home...

The Amish don't have insurance because it is against their principles. This causes them some grief with that icon of benevolence otherwise known as the US health system. Otherwise they get by. They would be better advised to move to New Zealand where we have a more "generous" taxpayer funded basis of support for the "needy".

Amish aside, I have little sympathy for people who don't take appropriate steps to protect themselves from likely risks to their health, mortality or property.

Great idea and let me be the first beneficiary. I removed one of the springs on my throttle body on the MV today because there was too much resistance for my liking. During the process, I put a hairline scratch on my frame.

I figure it should only cost about $100 to fix but I need some new tires too.

I like the idea, and would contribute too, however i dont think that you would get enough people on board to make it viable.

good idea, yet with people running short on money with increasing living expences...i doubt many would be very willing to contribute....annnd just for Racey Rider so far today 679 members have visited the site today. Perhaps something linked in with KB may be an idea? something like you pay 75c a week, 50c or so could go toward an emergency fund, and 25c could go toward site maintenance/expences and for this minimal fee some kind of extra site features would be accessable? no idea what they'd be...just a thought

humans + money = bad ... real bad

shit happens when large amounts of cash are involved...need to handle it professionally with auditors etc who all take their slice.

Don't insurance companies cover income loss?

    Should someone hospitalized while doing a runner get a payout ? what if they're are doing 100 over the speed limit ? 50 ? 20 ? 10 ? 5 ? alcohol ? weed ?

In short...no, insurance doesn't pay out for any incidents caused directly by any illegal action of the rider. time to read your policy perhaps?
