New rear tyre - purchase advice please

The tread on my rear ... well, the bike's rear ... is now almost non-existent. No matter how much I might want to be kidding myself it simply isn't going to magically fix itself and I'm going to need to buy a new one.

It is, I believe, a 180 section Michelin Pilot Power. Any advice on the cheap(er) purchase and fitting of such a thing in or around Wellington would be gratefully received.

Oh, and so I can warn my credit card, any idea how much I'm going to be stung for this?

    Dave

The powers are a great tyre......'stick' with them if your happy with them.
There are plenty of other options of tyre brands that are just as good. Ask around for prices.

    depends on what riding tho..
and if you want to stick with what everyone recommends (and thus the world won't move on with (no digs here..)), or just pick one you want to try, and see what you think of it..

As soon as I've gone thru a front and [normally] two rears, I pick another set.. So far, two flavours of Bridgestone, Avon Vipers, and now Continentals.. Most tyres would out-do most people anyway..

Thanks guys. Any preferred vendors, or will they all be roughly the same price?

Price may vary from shop to shop.
Go with a vendor your happy with.

Have got a local shop up here down to $305 balanced and fitted for the 190/50 Pilot Power...usually I get them for $320.
I'd say the 180/55 will be about $20-ish cheaper

If you're not riding hardcore all the time, save some money (long term) and get the Pilot Sports.
