services every 15k instead of 5k, tyres that last 50,000+, brakes the same.

if you ride anything BUT a scooter to save money you're a nut.

...........then there's my beemer (cycle) which seems to get 280km to reserve and up to 380 to empty

    services every 10k

my motard got 120kph to reserve the other day from sarf orklind to kyawa and bak, that's about 24mpg in old money

the same bike gets up to 70mpg used easy without gear changes

    go figure i guess

Just did 310kms on 10.3L on the VTR250 (30km/L or 3.3L per 100Kms) with open road riding (around 80 - 90km/hr) and hadn't quite hit reserve.

Bloody impressed! Well, I drive and ride like a nana so am used to getting fuel economy out of my uneconomical cage.

I'm averaging about 28 k's per litre on my 2005 GN250. That's with a 1/2 fairing and a top box on open roads and steep hills.

I got 40 Km/L on my VTR250 on the first fill, so I'll be interested if it consistently gets that. I filled up to the brim when I bought it, then filled to the brim again after 220.1 Kms. It took 7.6 L to fill it back up, which works out as exactly 40Km/L. Or 2.46 L/100Km. Or 114MpG.
I was astounded, as that's more economical than my 50cc Honda 4 stroke scooter was.
On that first fill I used 95 octane petrol from shell, but the second fill I switched to 91, because I've been told that I'm just throwing money away running it on higher than that. I don't know how that will affect economy.
It seemed too economical to me, but I checked the figures, and filled it to the same level each time (where the metal bit ends inside the tank).
Oh, and I checked the speedo and odo accuracy with my GPS, and they're both pretty much dead accurate, which was another surprise. Before I checked with the GPS I was speeding around everywhere as I just assumed it would be 10% out like they mostly all are, but not in this case.
I need to do a few more tankfuls of travel to see if it was just an anomaly or not.

Mine is a 17L tank and the most I've ever gotten out of a tank is about 400 k's. Considering the way I usually ride I usually get about 320-350 nowadays.

Sounds right. After 3 Rimutakas runs and a 25min two way trip into town I ran mine nearly dry. 260km out of the 13L tank is pretty sweet, considering quite a lot of it was 2nd/3rd gear 13000rpm+ twisties.
Although spending $20 every 3 days on fun rides isn't very practical!
