I think i must have the worst fuel usage here...twizel to tekapo = 15L
For everyone who doesnt know...its around 48km.
That's under 4km/L...3.2 to be correct.
Given i was racing a turbo suby back (no-one grill me, i'm not a learner rider and the cannel roads were empty.)
Can anyone guess what i was riding?? Ring-a-ding.ding..ding....ding.....

That's about right, innit -- RZ250 YPVS motor, fairly reasonable!
I borrowed GiJoe1313's RZ for a wee while, gave me a right fright how the kms I could cover got less and less the more confident I got with the throttle
I just fitted a more open 2-into-1 pipe on my 250RS, fuel mileage has got better, gone up to 29km/L and sometimes 30km/L. Can't really explain that one. Presumably because it's made the midrange a lot better so I'm short shifting.
I get between 19km/l hooning and 23.5km/l being gentle. its a 1996 Honda Hoenet 250 with 48,000 on the clock. I t seems to love 98 though,

Spark plugs for motorbike $78...Speeding ticket on test ride to prove spark plugs have fixed problem $80...knowing problem is fixed...Priceless
Well I discovered the limits of my tank including the reserve yesterday getting a glorious 403 km's from what is supposed to be an 18 liter tank. ~22.4km per litre. (On a GSX250 - City riding - mostly the daily commute to the city from Howick.)
Unfortunately for me I discovered this wonderful new knowledge on the Sylvia Park flyover, in the morning rush-hour traffic, and in the rain.I personally don't recommend it as it's a wee hike to the Caltex back and down below and my gloves are still to dry out.
Oh well...beats being on 4 wheels...how did I ever survive.![]()
The best I've had out of the sherpa was 35km/L (riding slowly on gravel), the worst is 19 km/L (on highways). It usually does around 24-29 km/L depending on the mix of gravel/off-road/highway I'm doing.
The road to hell is paved...
About 18-20km/L on my old CBR250R

Find a chick who’s just been dumped and comfort her by massaging her shoulders, and soon, she’ll be massaging your prostate.

Here's what my father-inlaw in Canada had to say:
Every real bike rider runs out of gas in identical circumstances at some point- its a rite of passage, the secret handshake isn't far away now.

Hard case!
I don't know about the 2.5 litres of reserve I'm supposed to have as it states in the handbook as I'd turned that on at the lights at the bottom of the flyover. Must have damaged the tap it when I mushed the fuel cock in my wee spill at Pukekoe earlier in the year.
Ahhhh to have passed another rite of passage on two wheels.
