Born in Subotica, Yugoslavia (Serbia) in 1940 Simeon Jurkijevic trained under
Hungarian Master Knifemaker Beta Bernard. After his apprenticeship he worked on
restoration in castles, repairing knives, swords, battleaxes and restoring intricate
wrought iron work.
After Simeon migrated to Australia in 1966 he gained trade qualifications in welding
and fitting-turning before deciding to return to knife making.
Simeon recieves orders from all over the world and his work is in various public and
private collections. He has featured in many books, magazines and television
documentaries in Australia, USA, Asia and Europe. It is likely that he is the last
Medieval Guild-trained Master knifemaker still practising.
