Today I twice ended up at lights on my Epicuo 125 scooter with motorcycles beside me, both gave me looks suggesting their superiorty and got their revs ready for a fast take off. I wound it open and left them well behind. An automatic 125 has some get up and go. Seconds later both sailed past me doing over 70k their body language suggesting "see you can't win" I could have kept up but being on an old age pension I just cant afford speeding tickets.
I sympathize as I remember in my youth when I rode a 1000cc Vincent Rapide which was the fastest production machine, car or bike, on the road at that time. A guy on a Scott 600cc two cylinder two stroke challenged me to a drag. I put up my bet, one pound (= $30 today) and we went to one of the then rare traffic lights at the bottom of a steep hill. (This was before lights were common and before crash helmets were available) The Scott roared, and I mean roared, away and was three metres ahead after prescribed 70m.
My pride was most hurt, beaten by a screaming two stroke.
He admitted he could not match my 115MPH top speed.
