How much do you think it's worth?

    Hi Guys,
I've just about finished creating the new MotoTT website, and was wondering if you guys could put in some input as to how much you think I should charge as it is the first website i've ever made from a commercial viewpoint. Check it out at www.matt.nick-b.net and give your honest opinion. I have spent approx 20 hoursish on it, but have been on msn at the same time
    Cheers,
    Matt
P.S. If you would like a website built, just pm me.

Not an expert or even a beginer re this sort of thing but 20 easy hours has to be worth more than $4p/h surely?
NEVER under value yourself...ever,cause motorcycling is an expensive habit man!!

Are you able to create more "animated/funky" sites?
I'll be seeking someone to design and create one for me in the near future.

indeed. I'm thinking about getting into this quite heavily. Register for gst so i can make the frequent claim for business stuff i.e. new laptop, new bike etc etc. Just need to find people who want sites first

Very good attempt. imo the asthetics aren't the best but as far as features and function go its awesome. Very suitable for the needs of the company that its for indeed.

You say you spent 20 hours on it then how much would it have cost to get done by a webdesign company? Atleast $500+ i'd say. Put a value on each hour, say $15, which equates to $300. Thats a ballpark figure, work with it how you like.

Yeah I would agree with what the rest of the guys have said. You don't want to under valule your self (ie don't charge yourself out at

If you'd rocked up to a design company for that you'd be charged a minimum of $120/hr. Maybe $80/hr if they got a Mac Operator to do it with Fusion.

GO and have a look at some of the Web Design company websites and have a look at what they charge. Remember, one day you might be working for them, and having a history of under cutting them drastically isn't going to make you their favourite person.

The main thing is the functionality of the links and ease of navigation - seems fine - as far as the graphics go it's the easiest thing in the world to remove the piccies and embed new ones (I've seen instances in the UK where someone has been paid a shedload of cash to redisgn a website - they've just gone in to the html, rearanged the pages a bit and embedded new graphics - 20 minutes work - looks totally different and a lot of people get fooled by it!)

If this is a set up from scratch I'd be charging $80-$100 per hour for your time bro. But then I worked in London and that's the kind of dosh you'd expect to pay for website development on a tight budget - unfortunately in NZ people do not want to pay for what they receive - hence the state of the economy!

I always agree the price in advance on frelance work - I do sql database analysis and business modelling for people - generally $100+ per hour.

If you're doing it for a coupla mates that changes everything (I try to avoid doing work for mates - it'll bankrupt ya!) you don't want to lose yer mates.

It pretty much was from scratch. What i used to design the page wasn't co-operating with me copying any of the text or anything. I had to start it all from scratch.
