New To The Scene (Cache Wraith)

Hi all. Thought I would introduce myself as a new visitor to the site. Already got some very useful tips. I could be accused of having a mid-life crisis by getting into the scene (before I hit the 50's) but I've wanted to ride for many years, family and other commitments have held me back. Had my learners for over three years now but haven't been riding so pretty much a newbie. Just deciding which bike to get into first and then I'll be out there dealing with the nerves. Was formerly in the Police for 17 years and been to plenty of motor accidents, some nasty bike ones, so have to conquer those demons. Looking forward to the experience and hope to quickly get some skills. If it takes me as long though as its taking me to learn the guitar, I'm in trouble. Catch you for a ride some day maybe.

p.s. Been in quite a few vehicle pursuits over the years, caught most of them, but never caught the bikes!

I just have to laugh at the last comment. We all know bikes are superior to cars though.

Welcome to the site, don't feed us before dark, and make sure the light's off when you do - It looks nasty.

Once you get a bike make sure you come and join us on the 250 learner friendly run - plenty of stuff to learn and no pressure to hammer the pace.

Not all of us learners are teenagers!

Welcome to this loony-bin that's sort-of run by the inmates, you'll enjoy it if you don't feed the trolls or take things too seriously!

Get into your riding and just ride with the thought that most other road users are dunderheads and likely to do the wrong thing at the wrong time and you'll be right.

(Oh, that's right, as an ex-cop you already KNOW the above is true!!).

Cops. Ex-cops. There's getting to be more of them than us round these parts.
    Welcome along anyway.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Good on you for taking the decision to ride two wheels of freedom! Plenty of good threads here on the art of riding with the usual dollop of humour. Hope to see you riding out there soon!

    Whats wrong with ex cops.

Anyway welcome to the site, alot of us appear to be having a mid life crisis and getting into biking.

Thanks, here's an interesting story. Just got home this morning and discovered that my house had been burgled. I obviously disturbed the burglar as I found my electronic goodies strewn on the bedroom floor, including a PSP, binoculars etc. He took a digital camcorder and probably some other items I havn't quite discovered missing yet. As you can summise he didn't take my cherished mac computer as I am still posting. To bring this back on topic, he didn't take my bike, CAUSE I AIN'T GOT ONE YET
