    Robbing mongrels

@#$g c#nts. Wallet nicked today in Tirau. Thankfully had the girlfriend with me so was enough cash to get back home. Not too stressed about the bucks in it but major hassle getting credit cards etc reissued (from UK). Seem to recall a couple of emo's [1] bumping into me in one of the gift shops.

    bumma

That really sucks man, I wear a asecurity travel belt now that clips on so I can't loose anything via pick pockets or falling out of a pocket.

Hope the crook gets a just punishment from someone.

sorry about that,i aways put my wallet in front my chest in pocket all zipped up,when you think of it, it's probable easy to take something, because of the gear you are wearing "thick".

All I can say is I hope Karma doesn't miss them.

On a side note to credit cards are you guys aware that even if you put a pin number on your credit card it can still be used?

I was amazed when the bank told me this that when the eftpos machine says pin or sign you don't have to enter your pin you can just sign for it. So much for the security of a pin number!

Nothing new, they can still put it through a zip-zap machine too. If you sign the shop needs to check your signature against the back of the card. You need to take all reasonable steps to protect your card and pin, and to notify the bank if it goes missing. If you do all this and some one uses your card with the wrong sig then you shouldn't be liable.

I haven't heard too many cases of pickpocketing in this country. Another sign that the element of scum is increasing.

Yep...I always sign....don't even know my pin. Needless to say they were all cancelled straight away. I think they just swiped the wallet out of my leg pocket (just normal combat trousers...not padded..tirau just up the road so I risked it). It was jammed in their pretty tight so they must have been bloody good with the old "bump into someone and grab" thing. This never happened to me in 5 years of commuting (train and tube) in and out of London! In < 2 years of living here we've also had a car CD player stolen. Was kinda hoping for a phone call this morning from someone to tell me they'd found my wallet (sans cash)....bummer.

On a similar note a young lad (14) I know found a mobile phone in Whangamata. Being a decent young chap he asked his mate's mother how best to track the owner. Can you believe she told him to throw away the SIM card and just keep it. If that's the sort of parenting that's happening then you can't really blame kids for having confused morals.

Sorry to hear that especially as it happened in my own stamping ground and that always embarrasses me. Probably weren't locals though. Tirau is always packed at the weekend so I guess it's rich pickings.

As per one of the other posts, let's hope that Karma doesn't miss them.

    Cheers

    Geoff

You've still got yer UK credit cards? Ma wife made me cut mine up - but then that's coz I had an decent income in London and platinum cards with credit limits the size of a small country's defense budget.

The missus was dubious of my ability to service the potential debt on those cards on a 3rd world income!

Nae luck though - Karma is probably already dealing to the culprit though - if life gets bad enough that someone has to pick pockets it's not much good. Just hope they don't get caught coz if they do then it's into the Ritz with 3 square meals a day, plasma TV, free internet.....the New Zealand Prison system eh?

    Update

Just had phone call from Tirau info center. Someone found my cards all lying in the gutter. No wallet or money though.

Buy/use a lot of services from the states, NZ and Europe. The UK credit card has no annual fee (Westpac want $65) and doesn't charge a foreign currency fee (Westpac want 2.5%). Assuming I couldn't pay my balance off at the end of the month:- > 20% APR Westpac vs 6.9% APR UK. Bit of a no brainer really.

It always amazes me what with all the roads that need fixed, signs that need painted, fruit that needs picked, holes that need dug, litter that needs picked up etc,etc that they can't electronically tag the (non-violent non-paedo) @#$ckers and have them contributing something back to society.

Mind you, if it's an Emo that get's caught they'd probably enjoy the beasting they'd get in prison.
