I thought this was a racers forum, but from the lack of phone calls I guess I am in the wrong place

people have forgotten that to enjoy yourself/extend yourself/learn something, you usually have to spend money. they're too busy buying shite 250's and crashing them. $3500 will buy me 20 hours in my Pitts, and is what i'll spend my $$ on, but if i wanted to race, then i'd be there. surely someone out there has a rich daddy.

you could always go to NMIT and set up a 'Cetrtificate in Motorcyle Race Team Management', of which some of the component is actually racing - do it on a student loan!

    actually - that's not a bad idea!

    I would love the opportunity,

I just don't have that sortta cash, + saving for a new bike, so don't want to go blow it all away...

It's damn good to see ya setting up awesome deals like this, and Im sure someone will be keen to get on one!!

with respect RG - this is what i'm talking about. spend the $$ on racing - do the hard yards, and the opportunities will come your way. you'e not 'blowing the money away'

what if you ride the rounds, ride awesome, and pick up a full sponsored ride next year? or an opportune meeting with a racer from europe leads to a trip over there to race rounds on a loan/sponsored bike?

    take the chances man

    Yes, you are very correct.

But with only 1 season on a streetstock 150, I hardly believe that i willl be going fast enough in only 5 rounds on a bike bigger than i have ever raced, and the bike i have never ridden will be enough to impress people.

I am going to play it safe and build my skill on smaller bikes (GP125 bikes) before going and spending big $$$

good things come in time, i am only 16, with plenty of years ahead of me.

Interesting you should talk about lack of experience and being able to cut it or not, Example

I had only ever done 15 races in my life before qualifying for the Japanese Superbike grid!

Chris Bramley, ( Who raced an SV I built last year) Got up and into 3rd place in the NZGP race at Ruapuna ( Before Crashing) But he had done NO races before the first round at Puckekohe last year.

My Point, unless you try you will never know!

If the above mentioned rider had a sponsor to pay for his petrol-tyres-entries, I would run him again for sure!

The only reason this bike is up for lease is because I cannot and will not pay for all the above, I would provide him the bike FOC.

Chris is a very talented rider, probally the best young up and coming rider I have seen in this country, definately on the same par as Sam Smith!

    Fair enough too.

I am really keen on hiring one, But i just cant justify the cost if i were to be slow,

and at the end of the whole Nats series, So spend more than my whole budget for racing a 125 for a full season AND the nats, For less track time?

It's like a Rock and a hard place

No, there is no "rock" or "hard place". You either back yourself, or you don't.

If racing a bike is that important to ya, you do it. If you're afraid of failure, you'll never acheive anything in life.

not that its any acheivement but glen was out almost as fast as i was doing 1.20s on his first ever ride of a beat up old fairing less 600. got some skill.
    edit at manfield.
on a seriously neglegeted bike, even by my standards.
but shaun could probably still do sub 1.14s on it..........
looked like you enjoyed the extra speed of a 600 so why would you want to go for a 125?
talk to your big sponsor, get a bigger bike.
