Organisations do this shit to gauge public reaction - no one makes a fuss it gets made into a policy.

Write a few letters to the council / newspapers / transit saying why the heck is it taking so damn long as you are seriously inconvinenced (sp) etc etc

It piddles me off.... It adds a bunch of time and detracts a bunch of fun from my trip to the 'rapa...

Make up a reason FFS. A little noise now will stave off a ton of bother later. Call your local MP moaning...

Yes - contact your local MP and ask what the heck is going on, you heard it on the radio etc. If enough people ask the poor sap he will ask Transit and they will go red and it won't happen.

3 emails sent. Transit, Hutt City Council & Greater Wellington regional Council. I tried searching for Trevor Mallards email but he doesn't want to hear from his constituents from what I can(t) see.

Fuck this country is going backwards, better go buy a horse & cart this weekend me thinks.

Don't worry Max, your Horse and Cart would just ride straight over Matt's tricycle without even noticing.

I let the papers know as well yesterday so I'm hoping I was the rat that led to this..

    My submission to the KCDC...

    Hi,

I've heard rumours that the Paekakariki Hill Road was going to be closed permanently.

I would like to register my objection to this, and hopefully add to the many others to the same effect! The road is offers the only viable alternative to SH1 up the Kapiti coast and should be kept open for emergencies if nothing else!

Also, the viewpoint at the top of Paekakariki Hill offers unparalleled view of the coast and Kapiti Island. It would be a shameful loss if it was gone because we couldn't maintain our roads.

The road itself, winding up the hill on the Paekakariki side, and coming down into Pauatahanui offers the best in motoring through the scenic hillsides, forest and farmland that New Zealand is known for.

Please do not close this road permanently.

    Regards,
    .

Great, so whether I'm on a bike or in a car, if I get stuck behind the nana of all nanas, I'll be driving at 60kph all the way to Plimmerton? Yeah, right!

I often slip over that hill if I'm heading to the Hutt, rather than get stuck behind a heap of slow moving vehicles. It may not be any faster going that way but it feels much more relaxing!

They should close it to cyclists though, getting stuck behind one of them sitting on the centre line is a pain in the arse.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
