Rear shock removal. k5 gixxer 600.

OK so my ohlins needs regassing, sweet I whip the rear shock out sent it away to moto-dynamix to have the work done and put it back it.
Simple or so I though, I Strung up my bike by the rear subframe so my bike was hanging off the roof. Then I undid the two bolts holding the shock in place. So now my shock is undone and my bike is hanging there. But I cant get the fucking rear shock out now matter how I twist it or rock it I cant get the bloody thing out...
    Any tips please?

Mine (on my older K2) came out through the chain side of the bike between the swingarm and subframe.

twist it 90 degrees clock wise and pull it out the left hand side [chain side]
I can get a shock out in 4mins with a car jack...

can you take the shock apart in place?
take the spring off the unit. then compress the damper.
    then take it out.

Easiest on mine was to take the battery out and slide it out the top.
