Not prepared to say - already been attacked by the manager on another online forum. I hadn't said which branch and didn't give out any details of where I lived but she was obviously alerted to it by someone. Said she wasn't happy she was "forced" to respond online as I had refused an offer made for her to ring me. What actually happened was that I said I failed to see the point of her ringing me as it's not like they would be able to change the situation.

I will continue to support the SPCA at a national level, but any support at a local level will go directly to other animal shelters until the management changes.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

    Give the guys a break.
Any job associated with animal welfare is a largely thankless and often heartbreaking task. The organisations are usually staffed by volounteers doing just a few hours a week/month with little or no training, so maintaining good communication is nigh on impossible.
I couldn't handle the things they have to deal with without going US Postal on some of the oxygen thief owners, so I'll just keep supporting behind the scenes, glad that someone else is prepared to do what most of us are not.

We were going to take a rabbit from there a year or so ago and had to have its prospective home checked before we could have it. I had built the cage at great expense for its previous occupant , a giant lop ear rabbit we had got from the SPCA some years previously. Any old how, the person who inspected the cage said no we couldn't have the new rabbit , a standard sized run of the mill rabbit, as the hole into its house was too small. I don't suppose she had ever seen a real rabbit hole, I could have made the whole bigger but thought fuck it and got another rabbit elsewhere

We have 14 cats, I'll pop one in a courier bag and sent it too you.

We have all colours, take you're pick.

Funnily enough, over the years, we've found ginger cats the least friendly, or most spooked.
The nicest, lovable ones seem to be tortoise shell coloured.

Not bagging the work these ppl do at all Slow, but just stating a fact regarding one particular branch .. & I watch the show re aucks SPCA & if this one was run as well as that one .. no probs

whats the solution ? I would quite happily volunteer there if they got real in the way they deal with the animals & ppl who are looking at rehoming.

My cousin's son (my second cousin?) is the shaved head guy in the Auckland SPCA show - big softie and well respected by the sound of it. I used to have a lot of time for the Wellington SPCA in the time of Ro Williams - I had a bed and board payment going to them every few months.

I know the SPCA and ANY animal welfare organisations have a hard time of it and they do so with very little money. I don't dispute that. If the manager had called me and said "sorry, one of the volunteers didn't realise we already had a home for the female kitten" I would have accepted that and got over it. What continues to annoy me is the fact she claims we had not confirmed which kittens we wanted. We were unable to go into the room and thought that by saying we wanted the only female AND one of the males, that we had confirmed which ones we wanted. It's not like they gave away one of the males, they gave away the female.

I am not bagging the SPCA, I would be just as pissed off if a friend had been giving the kittens away and the same thing happened. They are always saying how hard it is to find homes for abandoned animals and yet they let the chance of an excellent home for TWO slip through their fingers. I was even thinking of taking all three when I went in to collect them.
