*shrug*. That's what bouncers are for. Or sometimes drummers who have nothing to do in the quiet bits. PLaying in London was an education. If it said "No Cameras" they meant no cameras. Flash goes off, Brutus moves into the crowd, there's a yell, the sound that plastic and metal make when it is unmanufactured, and some inverse crowd surfing as a punter slides out the door on his/her belly.

Bob is definitely right in this instance though. They entered a contract and then blew him off. I turn my phone off when I go to meetings. Being a BOFH means I can disable a client's Blackberry system before I go to a meeting with them to ensure it isn't interrupted.

We had two ditsy cows behind us at Th' Dudes concert. They obviously weren't Hammond Gamble fans but when they carried on talking through Hello Sailor, I got fed up! I turned around and stared at her but just got a vacant look in return, so in the end I said - loudly - "did you come here to listen to the music or just bloody talk?" Thankfully that did shut her up but it really annoys me, just like people who talk all through movies. Or answer calls... or take three-month-old babies to movies with loud soundtracks and then go "sshh" all the time!

Go into a second hand bookshop and look for Bob Jone's "Letters" or "More Letters" books. I have one of them and I'll guarantee that you'll wet yourself. They are a collection of his letters which he's written to people over the years who richly deserve a good bollocking. The mix of articulate prose and gutter language is a joy to read.

Bob Jones is a self-absorbed bully who uses his "status" to leverage his bullying. The books of his letters demonstrate this less-than-savoury characteristic very clearly. He also used to be able to rally support from his merchant wanking friends to help assassinate the character of people to whom he took a dislike, such as female police officers and folks who pissed him off while he was out driving in his Jag. He may sometimes be amusing, as many pricks often are.

Most characters of worth throughout history are flawed - Churchill for example. It is their idiosyncracies that raise them from the dross. I agree with what you say but he is stilll a great character. Give me characters every day over mediocracy.
