Angry Warning: Trojan Has Attacked My PC Via MSN

One of my KB MSN Conacts (Dan hope ya read this) Started a chat last night with: "Is this you" with a link following that. Silly me clicked on the link and try down loading the file. My Avast! Anti-virus went nuts. Told me I had a Trogan. Have just about fixed my PC now but still have ta recheck it ta see if it is really all clear.

Dan, I've Blocked that MSN address. Will consider un-blocking if ya PM me.

    Everyone Else:
Until I post here otherwise, do not open any link from my MSN address (those that have it, know my MSN Addy, and are the only ones that need ta worry).

    Sorry Dudes and Dudettes.

What's your concern? It's no biggie, that happens to me all the time. Just don't click on the links and keep your anti-virus software updated, just like everyone keeps on saying.
Sounds like Dan has a problem though, if some naughty young hacker has his login details.

a contact i had a few years back, every time she signed on and started chatting, it would come up with "your friend has a new smiley! click here to view". another contact from the states told me it was a virus [after my msn started doing the same thing]
i cut contact with the first person, and totally cleaned out the pc with avg. it is tricky when shit like that happens, but all we can do is be on guard and not click links that dont look right.

I got a similar message from someone (not on my list) a couple days ago, had a link to a jpg file, but then brought up a message to download a .pif file, so I closed it without downloading.

Easier still, don't use MSN, Messenger or Hotmail! There are others that definitely do virus scanning like Yahoo! & Yahoo messenger, or for better security, there's X-mail and X-mail Messenger. If you really want security, there's Hushmail which has 128bit PGP encryption.
