Painting the ZXR??

are you getting crash bungs on the ZXR? I looked into that and you would need to have custom mounting brackets made... I asked at 3 different bike shops and 2 said "no can do" and the other said he could do it, but it would take a couple of hours to play around with making the installing the custom mounts, plus the cost of the crash knobs... he qouted me at about $400 (including the crash knobs and installation). If your keen I can PM you his number and you can ask him...

Nah nothing bad, ripped the new leathers and ground a hole in the alternator cover, faring just needs some plastic welding and a re-spray, selling the ZXR anyway. I'm to big (Fat) for it, and you scrape the fairings when you get a decent lean on round the sweepers. But the new bike will have crash bungs, (if Jap parts are expensive I hate to see what Euro ones cost

)

If so I wouldn't bother with paint, advertise it the way it is. If you get no takers and everyone is mentioning the paint as a reason then think about it, but in the end are you need to consider are you actually going to get $600 more for the bike with a shiney paint job?

You might be suprised at how easy it is to sell even an overpriced ZXR (not that I'm saying yours will be

)

Let me put it this way...

I REFUSE to sell a bike in any condition that I would not buy myself.

The top/front fairing is currently spray paint black, that does not match the rest of the bike whatsoever... the left side of the bike is scratched and looks like shit.

I want $6000 for my ZXR. And in its current state I won't get that. If I paint it, with all the aftermarket parts and extras that are being sold with the bike I will get $6000 for it.

$6000 wtf? I was gonna ask $4k for mine and thats just had a paint job and everything done to it. I am gonna get the wheels HPC'd black next.

32K on the clock. I could always buy a cheap shitty pipe and header system and put them on the bike and take off the full aftermarket header and pipe system (valued at over $800), and the rev limiter ($400) off before I sell it... if anyone is only willing to offer $5000 and nothing above there will be no extras with the bike at all either.

I've seen far shittier ZXR's sell for $5500 so there is no reason why mine shouldn't get that at the least

imho, $6k isn't unreasonable. Be patient, you'll sell it at that price.

Yeah thats what I'm hoping.

I'll be placing it on TradeMe as soon as Sam and I have done our full tests on it. Once I've got my full I'll still need to save approx $1500-$2000 for the bigger bike, so if it sits on TradeMe for a month or more it won't matter... Plus, the extras I'm planning on listing with the zxr value at about $600... so they are really only paying approx $5500 for the ZXR which isn't too bad.

And the longer I keep it the more stuff I'll be adding to it (like a gold chain... possibly a gold sprocket... etc)

Hmmm, I dunno about spending more than you have already. It could reach a point where you've spent more than you're able to sell it for. You don't want to lose money on the bike, but a good paint job in addition to the new stuff you've already put into in would be enough. Keep the money you'd spend on chain and sprockets and spend it on your R6 instead. Just my opinion, pf.

We're going to start practising (or learning...) pillion riding when it gets a little closer to selling the bike time...

get in touch with satch, for $600 he'll do the prep work and spray it including paint and clearcoat. He's in remuera/newmarket area.
