    To own a RSVR Aprilia

Well after riding the GSXR for close to 2 wonderful years I was over it . Spent $$$$ on get it to handle right then $$$$ to get it to brake right & after that it still was just another Mass produced Japanese bike which was worth half of its brought price , still a great bike but not what I needed anymore . The only time I enjoyed ridng the GSXR was when it was flat out & this soon grows boring as well as risky plus a licence worry . Time for a Major change !! . Have liked the V-Twin from the Ducati's I owned but they never felt very strong , the guys I ride with here own RSVR's etc & have had excellent run's out of all of them , So set out to find a Minter & it didn't take long . Deal was done & home I went with my new Beast , Its been 3 weeks now & have gotten use to the power difference from the Monster GSXR HP not a hell of alot less but noticeable at the top end but been able to ride happerly from 4 to 5000 is great . Power is very strong through out the whole range with a real kick from 6000 to 10,000 rpm . The bike is totally balanced with the power Out put it makes which makes riding fast very easy , something a 1000cc Jap bike can be abit less in control of making for a more Focused ride to get the most out of the machine . The fact it still has the best Voted brakes on any Motorbike is just plain confidence inspiring Brembo's are not the world leader in SBK & GP for nothing ! The slipper clutch works excellent letting you just change back a gear or 2 into a corner & use the V-Twins engine braking to full advantage .The Light weight OZ racing wheels clearly help the whole handling package with less unsprung weight & letting the supension to do its job too. Ohlins race / track forks are just beautiful over any surface as is the Ohlins rear shock & Ohlins steering damper finshed off with heaps of Carbonfibre parts Front guard side pannels rear hugger front nose deflectors give the bike a great visual look . The RSVR is not a Jap killer in a straight line but is still bloody quick if you want it to be & still haven't seen a corner that is 3 K's long that you can do 299 ks round yet . If you are after a bike that puts a smile on ya face at a Any speed you ride it then this is a Wonderful starting point . My Mentor once told me this " Less is More "

Riding position is better & more comfortable than my K3 GSXR which is surprising , the bike is pretty loud with the race pipe on but if you heard it then you would agree it doesn't matter because it sounds so Good . . Didn't even test ride it when I brought it , just got on it & road back to New Plymouth from Auckland .

It's always been a dream bike of mine, top of the list. Good to hear it's actually a good bike too, not just good looking

Well I'm just about to decriminalise myself. My 01 RSVR has been hidden in a dungeon for nearly 3 years after my return from NZ. It's getting a good going over this next week and then registered for UK roads. Barsteward that I am, I'm then going to use it as my daily commute into the New Forest. Love the bike, which is why I couldn't let it go. Handling and brakes are superb, the torque is great for the twisties and I prefer the look of the 2001 to the later model that reminds me of the SP2 from the front.

Glad your enjoying it Scott, we'll have to record them all going past @ full noise now that Daves got the can on the Tuono Racing, be interesting to see what Gerard ends up doing to his newly wrecked motorcycle (Tuono I'm thinking).

I wondered where you buggered off to Simon, met you @ Whanga (super corsa no good on gravel road) a few years ago when you first got off the boat (2000R) you still got that personalised number plate, you should tempt Scott with it !!!!

    Pretty mad bike Sensei...

and an Aprillia twin beat all of the Jappers at that Masterbike test for '06...so the twin sure isn't beaten for pace on a technical track.

Geez Simon - you been gone 3 years - about time you got the Prilla back out of storage..

Nice bike Scott - one day, other people might discover you dont need mega-power to go quick on the road.......

A guy round the corner has got one... Gold rims, gold screen, yellow/gold paint/ black leathers with yellow flashes. You'd think it'd look too much but... Nah it's nice, real nice.

You had to remind me about the Supercorsa!!!!! The RSVR plate is deregistered (I think)...if no-one else has got it then I guess it's up for sale Course I remember you, I've even got a pic of the bikes side by side.

BTW sports front and sport touring rear worked best for me on the RSVR. I'm just accepted a new job since the last post so I'm going to be commuting 120 miles a day. Guess I'd best put touring tyres on. BTW an article in a UK bike rag suggests that touring tryes offer better grip than sports tyres for general road riding in the UK

Well if owning one of the best V-Twin's in the world wasn't good enough !! Dude I meet at shop in town once that had just brought a brand new 06 RSVR Aprilia gets a mate of mine he knows to phone me & ask if he could put his Aprilia in my shed for awhile . I say yea sweet as Dude so go round & meet him & take him out to my place & ride his bike into the shed look at speedo on it has only 920ks on it now thats new still not run in yet !! . Tim tells me to run it in then set up the supension on it & use it when I feel like it till he wants it back , What the !!!! had to pinch myself to make sure I was still awake . So have to decide which Aprilia I will take out tomorrow for a ride 06 RSVR or 03 RSVR . Life is tough but I will try to make the best out of it LOL .
